Oh HELL yes. No link yet, but the President has just ordered the Department of Justice to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act in court. He thinks it's unconstitutional. Yay!

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has issued a statement following news that the Justice Dept. will no longer defend Section 3 of DOMA in court:

"As a Member of the Judiciary Committee, it is my intention to introduce legislation that will once and for all repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. My own belief is that when two people love each other and enter the contract of marriage, the Federal government should honor that. I opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. It was the wrong law then; it is the wrong law now; and it should be repealed."

More Wonderful News: The Maryland Senate just voted 25 to 22 to move the Civil Marriage Protection Act forward. Today's preliminary vote, seen as many as the final obstacle to the bill's passage, paves the way for approval by the House of Delegates. Gov. Martin O'Malley has pledged to sign the bill into law as soon as it reaches his desk.

If you'd like to, you can thank Obama.

I even feel like thanking Dianne Feinstein, and I don't even really like her. Usually. She's ghastly on foreign policy, but credit where credit is due - she's pretty solid on some issues, like choice and guns. And now this.

You know, this has been a pretty fucking good day for us lefties.

...in Prague, which seems suitably Bohemian

I like the way the article does actually explain the thinking behind the idea, and touches on the transgender side too.

Yes, it's different, but I still think it's a little far fetched. It kind of falls in the "male hunter - woman gatherer" field. However, it's still a very interesting site.

    Yeah, those were cool.

But I liked this one even better.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

Yep. Lots of coming out stories this week. It seems to be building momentum. I wish it'd keep going!

Maybe this all lead-up to the Rapture tomorrow.
