I think it's their best work since Good Humor, which is saying a lot considering how consistently wonderful they've been. There's a wistful quality to Home Counties that, while always present in their work, really hearkens back to that sepia-toned, misty, 60's sound that they've always excelled at. While it is a long album, it never feels like a chore to listen to. It's just so pleasant and there are surprises lurking around every corner. Philly soul, Stax horns, baroque string sections with harpsichords, disco, folk... they touch on so many styles and eras but manage to hold it all together with wit and charm to spare. As always, Sarah Cracknell's voice is the heart and soul of these songs. That voice is one of the most perfect instruments in pop music. Her voice hasn't aged a day in nearly 30 years of record making. I look forward to spinning this album all summer and well into the later colder months. This is timeless, beautiful music.
I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.

I saw them at The Green Man festival in Wales in August. They were on tremendous form! It was such a fun, happy and friendly gig and the front rows were just a big singalong and dance party. It was quite a festival friendly set with plenty of hits from throughout their career so maybe their tour dates will focus more on the current album (which is fantastic!) but will no doubt be great! I'm seeing them in London in Decemeber. I was undecided about going before the festival but booked a ticket as soon as I got home as they made me so happy.

Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

Amazing, sold! Think I'll go after all. Especially after peeking at the setlist from last night.

I also feel bad not going, I think its going to be empty. Tickets are on stubhub for $6 dollars right now

They're not that well known in the US, right? They're a pretty big deal here and the music press love them. Hope they end up with at least some enthusiastic crowd at your gig!

Have a great time and come back and tell us about it!

a bit jealous because fans in the US can now buy two exclusives at their live shows - one EP and a double remix album called Mondo Casino

^ The remix album sounds awesome! I'd love to get my hands on a copy.
