Yup. I tried Painter for a while but I learned that with some fiddling around with brushes, layers and burn/dodge-tools you can manage quite well...

Wish I could dot everyone on this thread, but been a tad overenthusiastic today My sister's got all the drawing/illustration talent in the family, but I also know that on top of the talent, there's patience and a sheer love for that medium that you need to have... hats off to all of you - I was one to throw my eraser and pencil at the wall

Wout, I can definitely see your drawings illustrating children's books, actually thought your first post was raising the bar very high!

Update! Almost finished, needs some more work on the sky, the castle and I'm not sure the grass around the tree trunk is how I want it to be.
But all in all, I'm quite pleased

Wow! That's awesome, man. Good job creating depth/layers in the tree. You ever think of writing and illustrating a children's book?!?!?! I'm sure you have... enough thinking about it!

edit: I just scrolled up and saw you've already been asked that. Uhm... hello? I think you could do well.

Yeah, I'm gonna try and send some work in to publishers. Going to give it a shot.
I want to flesh out my portfolio a bit more, though. And I've got to say thanks to everybody here who suggested it. I've always been hesitant if it's good enough to send in, so your kind words really encouraged that. Here's hoping

Here are some quick sketches I did in my early 20's when I was getting into drawing fairly heavily. There were no actual scenes in this book, just sketches of characters.

Thanks, Wout. Yeah, I love that guy, too. I drew him first and then thought I'd have him shitting his pants due to the monstrous jailbird thug. I used to draw... A LOT.

^oh! lovely owl, I love owls.

And I love this thread As a wannabe illustrator I'm always happy when I find topics about drawings, I'm just happy to find other people who love drawing!!

This one is a work I did some months ago for a novel (?) I'm planning/trying to write.

    Bloody Grace, that's fantastic!
