    ^How did this turn out?

Today we were on Alert as a kid had stolen his Daddy's gun, posted "I'm the next school shooter" and disappeared. The district was sure to tell us that part.

They weren't so keen on letting us know he had been apprehended some time later. It was a stressful day.

I'll be writing my letter of resignation in the next few days.

    ^eff that nonsense.

So I'm sitting behind my desk feeling like I've been run over by a truck. I called in for a sub about 3AM. When it still hadn't been filled by 7AM, I just came in. If I hadn't, kids would have been supervised by who knows who. We've gotten several emails in the past few weeks about not taking off days. I'm pissed that the district can't find enough subs to function and feels the need to guilt me for taking a sick day that is guaranteed by my contract.

    Timeline:

    10am 4/9 - turn in resignation letter
Noon 4/9 - Principal turns in letter to District
3pm 4/9 - I'm contacted by District for exit interview. They kept asking about my feelings about things. They heard all about my feelings.
4/11 - Receive letter saying resignation has been accepted postmarked 4/9.

I marvel at their efficiency in this matter when they generally can't manage to be efficient at anything else.

After I got yelled at at work in a way that the entire office heard, by my boss, she and I had a follow-up conversation, during which she told me 1) she didn’t yell, 2) even if she had yelled it was okay because I’m never going to go anywhere where I won’t be yelled at and 3) that she’d ruin my career if I left.

    So, I’m out!

Has anyone got experience of toxic negativity in the workplace? Working with people who moan about everything, have nothing positive to say, and drag the atmosphere down by secret bitching / gossiping and focusing on the work they think others are or aren't doing?

That description basically describes the last 7 years of my working life. I finally just quit. I'm still a little mad about it because I was really good at what I did but the negativity and many other reasons drove me out.

    I don't have any ambition.

You don't always need any, it turns out. I shockingly got promoted to a senior position, starting in October. I'll have to meet the big boss soon. I'm playing it out in my head.
"Young man, did you take a wrong door somewhere? Or are you looking for food?"
"Uhm no, I'm actually 36 and the new senior."
"Oh, certainly new, I've never seen you before in my life."
"I've worked here for almost 4 years?"
"If you say so! What do you do irl?"
"Getting drunk playing boardgames with friends. Getting drunk playing vidja games or watching Netflix. Getting drunk worrying about the world, online. So basically getting drunk except when I'm at work. I'm so glad to be here!
