Lana Del Rey does "You Must Love Me" for that Andrew Lloyd Webber tribute album coming out. I love Lana so this isn't bad, but I ultimately prefer Madonna's.

I was listening to other recordings of Evita recently and the film soundtrack is absolutely the one I have an easier time listening to. I simply don't like how the part was written for the stage. Madonna was perfect, imho.

My gold standard will always be the American Premiere Recording (LuPone/Patinkin), but I enjoy the film and I'm always so proud that Madonna was able to do it in spite of the lowered keys and slowed tempi.

I prefer Julie Covington on the original concept album, if I'm looking for a harder-edged Eva. But, I love what they did with the score for the movie. It's is an easier listen, and matched Madonna's music video style perfectly.

I think Madonna handles the material pretty well, but I do NOT like those songs. Evita is very 'meh' to me.

I love Patti and Patinkin but... I find this recording to be unlistenable. I know I'm in the minority there, but it just grates on me. Their voices have never sounded worse for me. It's the recording itself, not them. I feel like a live recording would have been GLORIOUS.

I'm enjoying this fan made mix of the Ray Of Light album commemorating the 20th anniversary:

    Yay! Cautiously optimistic.

His last album came out in 2000, and his last production credit for any artist was on Confessions (Future Lovers). He has done a few remixes and move soundtracks since then though, but he's remained pretty much off the radar.

Curious to know what a 2018 Mirwais album would sound like.

P.S. They just played Thief of Hearts in my spinning class, and I almost fell off my bike.

I'm very curious that a Mirwais/M collaboration will sound like nowadays. I wonder how many tracks they're working on. I wish he'd produce the entire album.
