She really is. Her voice absolutely soars in the concert and also on the album. I still think Blue Fires is one of my favorites just because of her vocal.

Thank you for your suggestion, I will definitely give it a listen!

Neko will be in Louisville by herself performing at Headliner's in mid-March. Is a new album coming out from her soon?

Her Facebook cover photo got switched back to her vinyl box set, so maybe she's promoting that until she goes on tour with The New Pornographers.

Here is the article. I love Headliners because they do such a great job promoting the acts. They always have someone write up a piece about the artists, their background, what they're promoting and in this case it is just the set she's touring around to promote.
“The release of this set gives listeners an excuse to appreciate the scope of one of the most individual and passionate artists making music today,” says Anti- label head Andy Kaulkin. “When you take it all in, Neko’s journey from punk/country torchbearer to avant pop icon has been staggering. This box makes a strong case for her fierceness of vision, pristine musical craft, unflinching lyrics, and of course…That voice!”

It was already mentioned in MTF, but Matt Chamberlain mentioned on his website (though since seems to have removed?) that he had done:

some sessions with Singer Neko Case for her new record
Didn't even know she was working on one yet, but I am ready. The Worse Things Get started out middle of the pack for me, but now I think it's my second favorite Neko album behind Fox Confessor. It doesn't seem like it came out that long ago, plus we had case/lang/veirs and New Pornographers in the meantime. Is there any other news or info from the woman herself out there yet?

The Worse Things Get was 2013--so I guess this would be right on time! Four years have gone by pretty quickly since she's been so prolific with side projects. I have to admit--the last New Pornographers album I really paid attention to was Challengers, and their work is often so different from her solo stuff. The Case songs on case/lang/veirs could have totally fit on her solo albums, though--and that was one short year ago.

I have never heard The Virginian, but she has one hell of a catalog of solo albums. Her quality control is VERY high.

I can NOT believe that The Worse Things Get was four years ago. What?! I'm just hoping that she does something with another one of my faves, John Grant, on the new album. They did a little interview with one another on a radio show awhile back and said they wanted to work together. It'd be phenomenal.
