Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

Belgium is doing it exactly the right way. Sure, the theology of Scientology is batshit, but people should be allowed to believe batshit things and worship accordingly as long as they aren't hurting anybody else. Indeed, in this country, that right is guaranteed by the First Amendment. So trying to prove that it's a cult is a waste of time, and beside the point. The reason that the CoS needs to be taken down is that it is a CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION. Their crimes have been exhaustively documented, from fraud up to and including murder. Once the church is down and people have gone to prison (Miscavige, it goes without saying, should go there for life), people can still practice Scientology if they want to. They just can't break the law while doing it.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

Surely the US authorities could easily prosecute them on a whole range of labour law violations if they bothered?

I've had a small experience with the COS and still to this day I get bombarded with mail from them. Luckily for me they don't know my real name and my phone number. When they had my old number they used to leave me really disturbing voicemail messages.

I like to learn about religions and cults so I like to find out as much as I can about them. COS after one day of learning decided to back off coz it creeped me out. I was in the top level of their building and I couldn't believe what I saw people doing and I was really stunned. The members there escorting me tried to brush it off but I knew something strange was going on. I left the building and changed my number.

Part of me wishes that she'd now devote her life to helping take COS down. But she has to do what's best for her.

So what I'm reading was that she was always a bit of a loose cannon in Scientology, but because she was on a hit TV show and funneled money in, it was tolerated for awhile. The thing that ended that was, when at Tom and Katie's wedding in 2007, she asked where Shelley Miscavige was, and asked it rather brashly.

YOU DO NOT ASK WHAT HAPPENED TO SHELLEY.

^ YOU DO NOT HAVE THE FUCKING RANK TO ASK THAT QUESTION.

I read some stuff about that yesterday here: http://tonyortega.org/2013/07/08/sci...lly/#more-8117

That's where I read it, too. Ortega seems to be the go-to guy for COS info.
