Re: the blue flames from the dragon, the general consensus is that they're still hot flames but imbued with some kind of magic. When the Children of the Forest create the first White Walker, we see his eyes go blue. When the Children are fighting the White Walkers in the tree, we see them throwing blue orbs that burst into flame. The theory is that whatever magic was used to create the White Walkers was passed down from the Children of the Forest and now the Night King is able to use that. The wall was supposedly reinforced with some kind of magic to prevent the White Walkers from crossing it, so there'd have to be something to counter that, likely a form of dark magic.

Damn, this was an awesome finale. Sure, we all knew who Jon was by now so that wasn't a mystery anymore. We got our fair share of epic scenes, and this time not action heavy but pure character driven. So maybe that sorts the critics that said this season was light on character development we got our fair share.
The whole Cersei and Tyrion scene was amazing and I'm glad the Sansa/Arya thing turned out to be what we guessed / hoped. Littlefinger's look: priceless!
And the final wall scene. Oh my my my.

Also: Jon's bum is what will help us wait 1.5 years...

LOVED IT! I sat slack-jawed and stunned the last 15 minutes. But perhaps my favorite part was Brienne's reunion with the Hound. They had such a warm, touching conversation; they sounded as if they were Arya's parents

^^Possibly edited out or saving for next season.

That was a great episode, and I liked that at least this time the scenes didn't seemed rushed. I agree that Jon/Dany is so boring and predictable.
As for Arya and Sansa, I was expecting them to unite, but I have to admit that for a moment there I had doubts and was ready to curse the writers. I was reading comments for episode 6, and how Arya telling Sansa she could take her face and then handing the dagger to her was Arya threatening Sansa - I did not see it like that at all. To me was either Arya telling her sister what she can do and offering her skills, or just acting to whoever was listening/informing Litllefinger.

Now, if Tormund dies off camera, I will be fucking pissed. I would assume that they would show him dying at least, even if he's a minor character (it seems he and Beric ran across the top instead of going down).

I read they filmed some fake scenes, so the script might have been from one of those.

I think this look on Arya's face is my favorite thing about the episode:

They got everything right except for that. I read that it was cut from the finale and will end up in next season. How true that is, I don't know.
    Suck it, Shawn.

I think my favorite part was the scene between Cersei and Tyrion. They both acted their asses off.

A couple of GoT related things that made me giggle today.

The first three panels of this are from Season 4, Episode 1. The last three are from the current season.

Absolutely. Such a brilliant scene between those two - possibly my favourite scene, from an acting perspective, from this whole season.

I severely dislike Cersei, and I fucking love Tyrion, and they played that scene so brilliantly where I almost didn't hate Cersei and started to feel sorry for her.

The whole scene at the wall was thrilling. I 100% gay gasped when that all kicked off.

And Littlefinger - YES. I'm so fucking happy about that. Beautifully played. There was apparently a cut scene where Sansa talks to Bran to find out some of those details that surface in that final scene with Littlefinger, but that scene didn't make the final edit so it felt even more of a surprise when it actually happened.

So it was announced this morning that due to leaks, HBO will film multiple alternate endings of the series so that no one knows the real ending until it airs.

    1. What the fuck? I thought the big budget is why they cut the show back to 13 remaining episodes over two short seasons. Now they're wasting money on this? I'd rather they put that into more episodes so it didn't feel so rushed.

    2. Are we going to see the alternate endings? I don't know how I feel about a "choose your own adventure" style version of the story. I know there'll always be one "official" one but I can't wait to listen to years of analysis over which one is the true ending.

I doubt they are going to spend significant amounts of money on the alternate endings. They are probably gonna film different versions of smaller moments between character, and maybe alternate death scenes.

Plus, I dont think the budget was the main reason they wanted to do fewer episodes. HBO wanted them to so as many seasons as possible. The two shorter last seasons was so that they could spend more time and money on each episode. The production time was the same for season 7 as it was for the earlier seasons, even though it was three episodes shorter.
