If any of you are NetGalley members, Amy Gentry's book about Boys for Pele is available for reading there.

I stayed up until 2am reading this while listening to the remaster. I can’t wait to talk about it!

I’m definitely rereading some feminist theory now.

Just listened to "Rattlesnakes" and "Happiness is a Warm Gun" from SLG again and I think they have to be up there with her best work. "Rattlesnakes" indeed sounds like something she could have written herself.

I reread this 1998 interview from Rolling Stone. I'd forgotten about Tori's $12,000 dolphin chaise lounge and Karen Binns calling her style a "teenaged bag lady."

Also, wow, there are a lot of inaccuracies in here. Doesn't Rolling Stone thoroughly fact check? Also also, the writer (Steven Daly) tells the story of Billboard calling YKTR "bimbo music" but a few paragraphs later refers to 80's "disco bimbos" with no irony. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...garden-180722/

YES YES YES. ''Rattlesnakes'' is such a gorgeous song; it's my favourite from SLG (which is definitely one of the most underrated albums of Tori's career - I listen to it far more often than ADP, AATS, NOH or UG) The lyrics are filled with such sadness and especially the lyric ''and her never born child hauntes her now as she speeds down the freeway'' echoes so much of Tori's own experiences. I had the great fortune to hear it live in my NI show and I burst into tears. Such beauty.

Meghan Markle was in the 1000 oceans video?!

    15. SHE STARRED IN A FAMOUS MUSIC VIDEO

After graduating from Immaculate Heart High School in 1999, 17-year-old Meghan appeared in a music video for singer Tori Amos.

She was paid £450 to put on a low-cut top and stand in a crowd watching Amos writhing around in a glass box to the song 1,000 Oceans. She also auditioned to dance in a video for Shakira, but failed to make the cut.

Clearly the most important thing she ever did. We'd never even know about her otherwise. Prince WHO???
