There were a few people who pointed out that Tori has been doing it for years, but Tori is also not the first or only musician to do that. It’s more likely Alicia was paying tribute to Hazel Scott.

It does show the public at large has never seen even a snippet of Tori, given how amazed so many on Twitter were about it.

ETA: I finally found the full performance and she does indeed dedicate that to Hazel Scott.

I think she mentioned Hazel Scott when she just started... how I wanted her to say "Tori"!

In other news, I need to check out Hazel Scott

I’ve moved all the discussion regarding the upcoming new song from Amazon Prime’s “Good Omens” to its own thread:

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before: there is a very interesting interview with Nancy Shanks / Beenie on Tori online:

Its hard for me to listen to stuff at work but I was able to listen some and she seems lovely! How wonderful to just see Tori as a normal person! LOL!

I didn't know Hazel Scott, good to know. I looked her up, boy could she play fast...

I found this really interesting - a vocal coach commenting on Winter live. Especially what she said about Tori’s use of breath to tell a story:

I enjoyed that so much. I wished her channel would be entirely dedicated to analyzing Tori's performances. I guess that wouldn't make her a very successful YouTuber though

I just heard Promise for the first time in 70 million years. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I like the song.

I don't *love* it or anything, but it's well done for what it is. And it strikes me as very earnest and sincere.

I didn't realise for the longest time that half of 'Promise' is actually an old YKTR song. When I found that out I was very much MINDBLOWN.
