The shock and confusion in Trixie's voice when she says "Cornflake Girl?" is the biggest mood

Flavor with orchestra on Gold Dust is rather beautiful. I recall being so excited hearing it for the first time - assuming all the songs on the album would get such a new treatment. All I really like is Flavor, Precious Things (even with weird vocals), Marianne and Girl Disappearing. This version of Girl Disappearing made me fall for the song!

I remember being pleasantly surprised with how good Gold Dust (the song) sounded, and I actually quite like Cloud on my tongue, and loved the idea of snow cherries with orchestra, but it doesn't quite deliver because of the vocals. I don't know what happened between Gold Dust and UG but her vocals are so much clearer and stronger on UG, which I hope carries through to NI (even though Flicker makes me slightly concerned for this).

I wonder why Tori hates The Happy Worker so much. I actually think it's really great. Her vocals are AMAZING in that song, and I think it's well written and fun to listen to.

It is one of my favorite songs. See, that's how you make a political song (I see it more as a criticism about capitalism, but anyway) instead of Strong Black Vine or Giant's Rolling Pin.
And I don't know if she wrote the lyrics, but I think it's the most cynical lyrics she ever sang.

Her voice in Happy Worker is kind of maniacal, and it fits the movie perfectly.

    Sistah staaaaart the en-jun!!
Pump! Pump the water yeahhh, ooh yeah!!

ETA: the affectations are very Robert Plant, like a lot of LE stuff.

Ooooooohhhhh yeah. The girl in that song does NOT love her job. He does not love his job. It is NOT the perfect job. You are so right!

And, tbh, nobody can love her or his job with so much PASSION. I like my job, I am so lucky to work in something I like so much, but there are days I would burn the whole building without any hint of hesitation. Nobody likes to work, and the perfect job doesn't exist. But there she goes, singing in this maniac voice about that. It's scary how pro-fordism it is.
