    Very Short Stories

    http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.11/sixwords.html

I'm a big fan of epic sprawling novels but I can't deny there's something irresistable about the perfect six-word story - i.e. Hemingway's famous baby shoes. So apparently wired asked a bunch of famous authors to string up six-word stories and the results are in the link above.

    Some of my favorites:

Gown removed carelessly. Head, less so.
    - Joss Whedon
Machine. Unexpectedly, Id invented a time
    - Alan Moore
Longed for him. Got him. Shit.
    - Margaret Atwood

    Neat!!

The baby’s blood type? Human, mostly.
    - Orson Scott Card

Starlet sex scandal. Giant squid involved.
    - Margaret Atwood

( I never knew that Hemingway story but I can see why it's famous!)

They're like skeletons that can be fleshed out into some hundred pages-strong novel. We could perhaps do the same?

Night? Checked. Shoes? Checked. Hunter, ready.

Hemingway's baby shoes story is always so stunning. Really extolls the virtues of economic use of language.

    Nicely done, OP.

The wedding hostages died from botulism.

Originally it said "The wedding hostages didn't press charges," but I felt it was incomplete? What makes a great short short story? I think wit, but I dunno.

TIME MACHINE REACHES FUTURE!!! … nobody there …

This one's satisfying. Do these things need a strong plot? If not, does Pound's In the Station of a Metro count?
    The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.
