Exclamation The Tori Amos Listening Parties topic

So there have been talks in The Beekeeper topic about making Listening Parties to Tori's albums, and Menju suggested repeating the experience that we have had on @ some time ago.

As many of you are curious about Tori's direction for the new album, and to make the waiting for news more tolerable, we have decided to bring back the Listening Parties. It's also happening in the Kate Bush forum in case anyone would like to check that too.

    What is it?
The Listening Party is when most of us agree on a particular time to listen to a particular album in its entirety (in this case a Tori Album), and, as the listening is happening, put our thoughts into the topic which will be created for this occasion.

    Who is allowed to participate?
Everyone in here. And the more the better

    When is it?
We urge everyone to choose a particular day and time so that all Listening Parties would take place at the same time every week.

    Which albums are eligible?
For now, we will include the following Tori albums:
    Y Kant Tori Read (48:44)
    Little Earthquakes (56:54)
    Under the Pink (56:40)
    Boys for Pele (70:09)
    From the Choirgirl Hotel (57:00)
To Venus and Back: Orbiting Venus (47:49)
    Strange Little Girls (62:27)
    Scarlet's Walk (74:09)
    The Beekeeper (79:31)
    American Doll Posse (78:42)
    Abnormally Attracted to Sin (72:03)
    Midwinter Graces (47:49)
    Night of Hunters (72:17)
    Unrepentant Gerladines (59:24)
For Still Orbiting Venus, B-sides, OST, EPs, compilations and other recordings, we can add them at a later stage if you guys want that.

    Which album goes first?
This depends on you, feel free to write your suggestions in this topic. It doesn't have to be chronological, and it would be good to mix the albums so that we won't have TBK, ADP and AATS back to back, but then again, we will go with the majority.

    Let the parties begin!

YKTR! Chronological is always the most fun.

YKTR to start please - I need to get my glam hair rock on.

But Catherine, you forgot all about the interpretative dance gifs, the discussion as to whether Etienne is a Suite or a short song cycle within the longer song cycle and concept of YKTR.

And you forgot the intentionally misspelled lyrics for lolz and emphasis! No listening party is complete without them!

Did you know that the K in "kant" was a reference to Kate Bush? Also to the slang language of the travelling community of Ireland. And also Immanuel Kant, obviously.

She missed a trick not changing her surname to Reid in the early years.

Anyway I'm on. How about alternate Monday nights? Mr something?

Imagine if YKTR had been a hit! Maybe years of playing lite pop with religious and piratical overtones would've ensued. She'd be looking for a new direction by now. Maybe something more personal. Even confessional? Who knows what would've happened if she hadn't married Caton and given him co-writing credits.

Monday nights are perfect for me. +1 to that suggestion.

And I vote for chronological order too. It's always the best way to go.

I prefer weekends, since I live in Alaska and I'm always 4 hours behind the East Coast so these parties usually end up happening in the early afternoon for me.

I am really looking forward to these! I will attend as often as possible bearing in mind time-differences and my uni/exam schedule etc. And I might conveniently be busy for the last few albums

^ they are the most fun. Especially TBK. It's like group self flagellation. You gif or you die.
