Thread: The entertainment industry's unstoppable bullshit machine

I was gonna say, Cruise is weird as shit, but he also has a reputation of being a really nice guy to work with. What does he have to answer for?

If that's the case about Cruise, I retract and apologize. It's true that his co-stars seem to love him. But I still want CoS to eat shit and die.

Anyhoo, it looks like Bryan Singer is finally going down. And not just because of the sex stuff. (click the link)

Note who thoughtfully sent this out to her 641K followers. And it's not the first shot she's taken at Singer, who is producing the new X-Men movie. Which she is in.

    Jessica is a badass.

A new in-depth article about Weinstein. It's a lot to take in. Definitely need to read it a few more times to digest it all.

So while I was familiar in general with Spacey rumors (and not the extent to which it was), every day manages to be an eye opener.

Filming on The Usual Suspects was shut down abruptly for two days after allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour were made against the actor Kevin Spacey, claims his Irish co-star Gabriel Byrne in the 1995 Oscar-winning film.

Byrne said at the time nobody understood why filming had stopped, but he later learnt Spacey — who has been the subject of sexual assault claims — had been accused of sexually inappropriate behaviour towards a younger actor.
This is a gross story but has a happy ending. It's a few weeks old but I hadn't heard it before.

The New York Times reports that Jason [Bateman] and Amanda [Anka] were in London for the premiere of Horrible Bosses 2 and attended a party hosted by André at his fancy hotel The Chiltern. A gang of other people were there too including co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day. André took them all on a tour of the place which necessitated filing up a firehouse ladder. That’s when things got gross, allegedly.
Ms. Anka was wearing a burgundy leather dress and was hesitant to climb the ladder, according to witnesses. But Mr. Balazs insisted. As she navigated the steps, these people said, Mr. Balazs slipped a hand under her skirt and grabbed her crotch.
Amanda told everybody what happened and people saw it go down, including Charlie’s wife who said in a statement “I witnessed behavior by André Balazs that was inappropriate and offensive”. Jason was having none of it and confronted André and SPAT HIS GUM OUT IN HIS FACE. Damn, son! I had a crush on Jason back when he was on It’s Your Move, I’m glad to know it was justified.

Yeah, it's kind of a slog, and it gets repetitive. But it's still interesting to see how it all went down as an organized scheme of depravity. Talk about a bullshit machine!

I had a feeling. I do prefer when it's a true individual rather than a concept, but this is a good one, better than "You."

Breaking: Six female Democratic senators are calling for Franken to resign. I agree that he should.

Yeah, this really was TIME's only choice, and with all the photos and stuff, they've probably been working on it for weeks. I think that the article is quite good and the whole presentation really works. I mean, when you have arguably the most popular female singer in the world and a hotel maid in the same photo array, and give their stories equal weight, you realize how pervasive this is and how overdue this movement is.

But I'm happy that it's here.

Just saw on twitter that Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz were placed on indefinite leave over at WNYC. I'm so sad about what is probably going to come out.

eta- here is the article: http://www.wnyc.org/story/longtime-wnyc-hosts-put-leave

I really like Leonard Lopate. This sucks.

According to this article the movie was cancelled because the producers want a larger release, so they bought it back and is shopping it around to new distributors.

I was afk for most of the day (and when I'm out out, I relish my freedom and try not to go on phone) so I didn't hear if that big story coming today ever came to light. I did, however, read that Tom Ashbrook from On Point was suspended for unspecified allegations... about 90 seconds after I listened to him get exasperated at the stupidity of Roy Moore defenders. ("There's no proof! We're just supposed to have faith?" screamed the ignorant caller who probably pretends to make half his life decisions based on his pastor's interpretation of Jesus, completely unaware of the parallels).
