Freakshow is also the only one I wouldn't watch if I had to pick a season.

Coven is the weirdest season to me because I think it could have been a stand-alone piece. It was more DIVA, DIVA, DIVA, DIVAS EVERYWHERE! --- for me. The scenes weren't horror, they were fun and terrific acting.. actresses upstaging each other and then being vulnerable when they did that too much. I would have loved to have seen where a Coven 2 could have gone. AH WELL.

The first two seasons are the scariest, obviously.

Hotel was decadent and just delicious imagery.

Did anyone else notice elements from the other seasons kind of thrown in? Homages?

I may just be looking to deeply into nothing, really.

Full Disclosure: I've only been into AHS casually. Ironically, the seasons most gush about I wasn't able to get into. I also don't believe I've ever finished an entire season. That said, I watched last night and I'm intrigued. It could just be because I love Allison Pill, though.

Reserving opinion or judgement until we're a few shows in. It always starts out crazy before settling into something more mundane.
And the ghosts that we knew will flicker from view

Yea, I have no idea where they're going with this as the previews for the season were cut off my DVR.

I'm not sure I'm going to watch next week. This show is slow af and I don't even understand where the Horror Story is going to come from. Sarah Paulson is great, and all, but I feel like all we do is watch a woman break down every week. And maybe that's all that is happening to her. Are there any other actors that get a storyline?

    It was a bit slow.

But here was my biggest issue:

^ Yep- As soon as Ivy handed over that box of candles, I knew what would happen.

What I love about AHS is the ensemble. And this is a one-woman show... still watchable but.... meh

i'm in the minority, maybe, but i'm loving it so far!
i loved the first 2 seasons, but the others have felt so messy to me. too much going on, too many characters, nothing especially scary. also, the gore just for the sake of gore doesn't do much for me.
i LOVE the classic scares this time. the clowns, the guy in the meat freezer, the total weirdo neighbors.
when i read that it was actually tied into our election, i thought it'd be lame, but i'm really liking it.
it's totally plausible this political insanity could push you into paranoia.

Tonight was simply my favorite episode since the best ones of Coven.

I missed Hotel and saw half of the Roanoke episodes. (I did catch the finale and actually found it quite moving.) But I've really been enjoying Cult. Sarah Paulson has been off the hook great, as has Evan Peters, especially tonight. I saw and liked the first two episodes, missed last week (but read a recap), and again I was just blown away tonight. Perfect balance of over-the-top madness and careful, complex character development. It was great to see hints they've been dropping expanded upon and dropped into the main narrative.

More later. But I did want to throw in that I think the supporting cast is also great. I've never seen Billie Lourd before, and she is the real deal. I think her mom and grandma would be proud.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

It's hard to get into for me because there isn't a "good" archetype to get behind. I'm to the point I don't care if all these characters each other alive. Seems like that's what they're destined to do anyways.

Last nights episode was the first time this season I felt we were actually watching a show that belonged in this anthology.
They cranked the horror up a few or more levels.

Well, they certainly cranked up the violence. That nail gun scene was UNREAL. But I dunno, I think it's been pretty scary from the get go. The scenes with Ally being terrified are generally good for one or two jump scares.

So, what do we think of Kai and Beverly? Did he give her the truth and nothing but the truth? I'm gonna think no. I think he's still playing her. I think he knows that she's strong enough to lead the group, and he wants to stay a step or two ahead of her.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.
