    first pregnancy

I am about 6.5 weeks into my first pregnancy. My first prenatal visit is tomorrow, and I've made my list of questions, which feels . . . short. I've abused the Google looking for things I might've neglected to put on there, but I wanted to come here and ask for input as well.

    Congratulations!

I'd say to be wary of googling too much as there is a lot of misinformation out there. Maybe buy a couple of specialist mags instead if you're looking for things to bring up with your doctor.

    Thanks!

And oh yes, I am highly skeptical of the Internet. There seem to be a couple of decent sites out there, and I limit myself to those. Otherwise I'm coming across a lot of sanctimonious, judgmental assholes.

    Congrats!!

I don't really remember asking any questions during my first visits, so I don't have any advise for you...

^ ditto. I didn't have that many questions other than "I'm feeling [insert physical feeling here], is that normal?"

Thanks for the well wishes, everybody!

Most of my questions were about my meds for migraines and allergies and things like, "Will I ever stop fucking throwing up?" Because right now, it doesn't feel like that's EVER going away.

I had an ultrasound and saw the wee little heartbeat. I'm eight weeks, two days if you go by LMP, or seven weeks, three days if you go by the likely date of conception.

I am excited, nervous, and scared shitless. I have also begun wearing stretchy-waist pants already, as I am so bloated none of my old pants button comfortably. Thank fuck for a fall/winter pregnancy (in the South) and what that means for my wardrobe!

Yeah, being preg in the winter is the best. I sweated out one child through the summer and stayed naked in front of a fan eating popcicles and wishing for death. whew.

Yep, know that feeling! It's a surreal experience, being pregnant and then being a mum. Enjoy all the changes over the next few months. Hopefully by the 2nd trimester you're over the morning sickness.

My doctor gave me Zofran, a prescription nausea medicine, and it seems to be doing the trick.

Also, the vanilla cupcake-flavored Goldfish crackers.

OMG, pregnancy just causes all sorts of uncomfortable and embarrassing things to start happening to your body right away, doesn't it?

Haha. I never really had many embarrassing things happen...

Mostly I'm referring to the need to scope out the best places to vomit at work. We don't have a private bathroom; I work in an academic building and we just have the bathroom that's shared with students. I keep extra trash bags in my office that I can tie up if I need to.

how early into your pregnancy did you start to feel barfy? And what's the ratio of just feeling barfy, to actually spewing?
