I hadn't played Doom in a few months and I felt the urge to blow shit up today and there have been updates and now I can't get my game to load. I tried to crush some candy to get THAT urge to pass and I can't get that to load on my computer either.

I had a lot of problems when I got Doom to get it to work. My computer isn't a fancy gaming rig, but it's not an old netbook either. When I finally figured out which weird setting was wrong, it worked just fine. So I KNOW it's not my specs. I checked my drivers and all that. I just have to invest some time deep googling and I'm super annoyed.

I would also like to spend some time playing on my DS but clearly this week has been traumatizing for us Mario fans and I can't do it.

Finally sat down for Uncharted: Lost Legacy. Man, what a great game. It is never dull for a moment.

After buying an LP of the soundtrack and loving it, I am playing MOTHER (Earthbound Zero/Beginnings) for the first time in my life! People've told me for decades now how hard it is but... 10 hours in and I'm not seeing it? Is it just my brain being programmed toward the archaic JRPGs? Maybe it'll convince me to give Earthbound another shot.

Finished my replay of all the soulsborne games (not demon souls, though I’d love to) and they were magnificent, as always. Playing them back to back the second one is BY FAR the least fun. So many ganky and annoying areas. The surplus of bosses doesn’t actually bother me, though, they are mostly easy so it’s just extra souls. The first is the best. It just has a certain je ne sai quoi about it. The mystery, the world, the intrigue, the music, the bosses.
It’s all at its height in the OG.

I’ve moved on to Red Dead 2, and I appreciate it but it isn’t grabbing me. On switch I’ve picked up Okami, but again, it isn’t really grabbing me yet.

I’m pumped for the new Pokémon, as always.

Okami never grabbed me either. The idea is great but it wasn't that much fun to actually play...

13th Doll. A fan sequel to the 1990s 7th Guest and 11th Hour with an official license, now availables on GOG and Steam. I kickstartered this like... 4 years back or so, and even betatested. about half of the puzzles. You have the option to play as either the original 7th Guest Tad, or his psychiatrist. They have very different paths through the game, I recommend the psychiatrist as a first playthrough. It is kind of enjoyable, throwback fmv with bad acting . The original actor that played Stauf reprises his role, but unfortunately they didn't hire anyone from Drag Race to help with his wig. =/ Most of the puzzles are worth it. Oh, and the music is just kind of awesome, that alone makes this game worth buying.

On the road I've been playing Luigi's Mansion. Simple, but Nintendo-elegant game, highly recommended by yours truly.

Mario Kart Tour! I don't feel like looking for my DS charger or where my kid hid all my games or look for my wii remote and batteries for it. So it's handy because it's a freemium app and I usually know where my phone is. Is it as fun as MK8? No. Is it entertaining enough? Sure. The price to buy stuff is absurd. You can buy a subscription to save on the a la carte prices, but it ends up being like $60US a year and that's a lot for a game that can disappear forever and you can't replay it in the future.

I like that the tour changes every two weeks and that they've made some new courses and old favorites. I don't like how it's both grindy and xp-per-day-limited. You're also not playing real people yet, just AI. Which is both good and bad because sometimes I want a challenge but also I don't like getting my ass kicked every time. I'm middle-aged single-mother good, not Asian teenager good.

I'm having a lot of fun now but if I don't pay for a sub and they don't tweak some of the mechanics, I don't know if this is going to be a daily game long term for me or many others. Friend code 7369 2801 3120 if anyone else is playing and we eventually can play each other.
