Björk announces new live show “Cornucopia”

The production will premiere as part of the inaugural season of The Shed, a new arts venue located in New York's Hudson Yards neighborhood

Björk has announced the debut of a new live show called “Cornucopia”, which will premiere in Spring 2019 as part of the inaugural season of The Shed, a new arts venue located in New York City’s Hudson Yards neighborhood.

According to Alex Poots, artistic director and CEO of The Shed, the live show will mark Björk’s first-ever production created with theatrical collaborators.

In a statement, Björk said she is preparing “my most elaborate stage concert yet, where the acoustic and digital will shake hands, encouraged by a bespoke team of collaborators.” She’ll be accompanied on stage by Viibra, a seven-piece female Icelandic flute ensemble, as well as a harpist and a percussionist.

Further details, including ticketing information, will be announced before year’s end.

Björk released her most recent album, Utopia, in November 2017.

    Some good advice there.
Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

I'm not sure where the best place to put this would be, so I'm gonna file it under "random chatter." So this summer I was able to visit Iceland for a few days. (I highly recommend it, dress warmly even in August, everywhere takes credit card so don't worry so much bout exchanging a lot in currency, but do save you money cuz I paid about US$40 for a burger, drink, & and fries at a gas station out in the middle of nowhere.) The opportunity came about last minute, so I was pretty much just concentrating on doing GOT linked tours. (I know.) But I did a quick search for Bjork to see if anything Bjork related was available for tourists to visit--and I got nada. However, a site I used to research places to visit in Iceland had a rather extensive Bjork biography. There I discovered she had a whole pre-Sugarcubes career in Iceland! I'm sure to the hardcore fans this is not anything new, but I didn't really start listening to her seriously until '97-98. So It was a surprise to find out she made her recording debut back in 1977 at the age of 12.

So all that preamble just to intro this link. If this is Bjork at 12 it really explains a lot. It's all in Icelandic, so if you've never heard it then buckle up...

I just became a member of The Shed in order to get priority access to tickets for Cornicopia! I may make the trek out to New York for this.

    Bjork is a grandma!

I also read somewhere (official forum I think?) that Bjork's mom passed away recently.

    Ah how exciting for her!
I think she did, some people found out and posted details of the memorial on a Facebook fan page strangely.

I still can’t find out any info about this NY show....

I'm not sure if this has been posted before: Bjork acted in a movie when she was 21.
It was called the Juniper Tree. A restored version of it seems to be made public from this spring on:

^Yup! It's been something of a curio in the Bjork community for as long as I remember.

I just came across this jazz cover of Hyperballad and thought I'd share it. Perhaps y'all have heard it before. It was new to me, and to my surprise I quite like it!

    New Video for Tabula Rasa

It is quite mesmerizing! The other day I had a listen to Utopia. It has been awhile since I last played it. I still struggle to grasp onto the melodies. Sometimes her album just take more time to click. The new music video is making me want to give the album another listen. She also just opened her tour up at The Shed in NYC. The production looks insane! I doubt they taped it, but it would be wonderful to see.

^Was just going to post this. Love it! Such a good expression. I've heard rumors that this production is going to tour. So I'd just hold on tight until it comes near you.

In the new Terminator trailer someone has covered "Hunter" - his voice sounds so familiar but I can't place it right now. The trailer is quite awesome, btw.
