    Post Rank the Albums!

    ALBUM RANK TIME

'Cos we all enjoy a good rank, don't we?

Confine it to the studio albums, or include everything, whichever you prefer! Feel free to explain your rankings too.

ETA I'm also excited for another opportunity to use that wall of covers, truth be told.

Here's my current ranking (without her self-titled album, Telegram, DR9, and Gling-Glo, which I haven't listened to in years):

    1. Homogenic
    2. Vespertine
    3. Medulla
    4. Post
    5. Volta
    6. Debut
    7. Selmasongs
    8. Biophilia

Homogenic and Vespertine are perfection in my eyes (or should I say ears?), but I ranked her 1997 album #1 because it was my first Bjork album, and I have so many fond memories of all those songs. The reason why Biophilia has a low ranking is due to the fact that I've only had the album for a short while. There's still not much of a connection, but the music has tremendous potential to grow over time. I remember feeling the same about Volta when I first heard the album in 2007. Despite the messiness of Volta, songs like "Vertebrae by Vertebrae", "Wanderlust" and "Dull Flame of Desire" make it worthwhile.

I don't dislike Biophilia, but it funnily hasn't grabbed me. Few standout songs, but the coldness of it all, the dissonance or something...I found myself much more enjoying Night of Hunters (got them around the same time). Which I wouldn't have expected. I'll come back to it when I'm in the mood, but yeah..strange.

    Fave to Least:

    Homogenic
    Post
    Medulla / Vespertine
    Debut
    Volta
    Biophilia (for now)

I don't count Selmasongs as I don't own it and have only heard it a few times - I prefer leaving those songs as part of the amazing DITD.

I just recently discovered Debut, as I never listened to it. As others have said, it's too 90s sounding, but now I love it. Volta has one of my favourite songs (Wanderlust) but the rest isn't great. Post I like, but I am not attached to it emotionally. Biophilia and Homogenic are both amazing in my opinion, and because Homogenic has been around for so long, I can't place it at number two, since listening to it is such as experience, still, after all these years, but Biophilia holds me and doesn't let me go!

Homogenic just barely edges out Vespertine and Medulla because it was my first Bjork album. I started listening to it in 1998, at the same time as I started listening to Tori!
Sometimes I think the so-called "experts" actually are experts.
