Started off Dec 23 thinking I was having a heart attack (literally). Went to ER and thankfully no heart attack, but some unexplained symptoms. Major emergency stuff ruled out so that's good. It was pretty scary though. I'm not one to rush to the ER. The rest of the holidays was a whirlwind of family. It was pretty good overall. My son has been sleeping int until 7am which has been lovely (he's usually up at 6). Had bloodwork today to try to narrow down what might be going on with me, although I seem to be symptom free now. Perhaps I was fighting off a very weird virus.

happy holidays everyone. I'm so sorry for those of you suffering. I wish you all happiness!

^WoW! It's good to hear that all major stuff was ruled out. I'm glad your symptom free now! Hopefully it was just a weird virus.

I once thought I was having a heart attack, literally. I could feel my heart beating irregularly. I was vomiting and so nauseated. I was very, very scared. Turns out I had an electrolyte imbalance.

Bumping early because my family is so fucked this year I’m boycotting thanksgiving too.

What I really want for xmas: early apologies for this years trangressions so I can at least quell the anger and resentment enough to force a fake smile for six hours.

Our holidays have been getting more and more lowkey with each passing year. This time around it'll just be me, my parents, and my grandparents. I think it makes my mom sad. She was hoping for grandkids to spoil but my sister and I have no plans to do that any time soon. I welcome the quiet simplicity all -- she seems to forget all the drama that surrounded holidays when dozens of family members showed up.

ahhh. the commercialization of x-mas is upon us. UK's popular YouTube fashion and beauty guru Zoella released a 12 day advent calendar for £50 which was greeted with much criticism.http://mashable.com/2017/11/15/zoell.../#Qu78QKWXhPqu. the fabulous Jamie Pine made a hilarious reaction video.

Due to all the backlash, retailer Boots subsequently slashed the price of the calendar in half.

My bah humbug realization today was that George Michael died on Christmas last year and I’m still sad every day. Hearing Last Christmas daily is not helping.

Oh, how I hate this time of year.

    1. Thanksgiving (late november)
    2. my birthday (December 10)
    3. Christmas
    4. New Years.

It's like six weeks of hell.

    Thank you!

This year I tried to pretend like it's not the "Holiday Season." Fail! O'well we are at about the halfway point!

Happy Birthday Entropy! Just make it your birthday and nothing else. :P

Both my parents had December birthdays, mom's is the 13th and dad's is the 26th. They just didn't celebrate them, which I now think is really too bad. Their anniversary is in December too, what a BAD idea. Maybe they were in a hurry.

Thanks for the wishes. I was kind of reflecting about how hating Christmas turns into me hating my birthday as well. I am not sure If I would hate it if it were say in April. I just hate Christmas time, so I hate my birthday by default! These days it falls right at finals, so I have to grade, Grade, GRADE!

My grandfather's birthday was on the 25th. We used to have a Christmas Eve get together that was completely dedicated to him. I loved it! We had the best food!

This is the only way me and my husband can give Christmas the time of day: We have a fake tree that we "plant" outside every year in honor of our cat Goblin, who died seven years ago. She loved the tree so much that we feel obligated to put one up every year to honor her rebellious, Christmas-loving spirit, which was so unlike our own. Over the years, we've added trinkets and decorations from many of our friends and relatives who have long since shuffled off this mortal coil. So it's become The Tree of Absent Friends. As hard-hearted as we are, it honestly makes us well up every time we look at it.
