    The videos:

    "Material Girl"

    "Like a Virgin"

"Dress You Up" (Live Performance Video)

Though "Angel" was a single, a music video was never made for it.

A new mix of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" was released as the final single from Madonna's "Something to Remember" compilation album in 1996. A music video was made for this release, but I'm not including it here.

It drifts off at the end, but I do think this is a good record. I know it's routinely at the bottom of most fans' lists, and it's not exactly topping mine, but it really did push her forward. "Material Girl" and "Like a Virgin" have been played to death, but they have a certain slyness and humor that weren't on the first record and that are definitely key aspects to her appeal.

Though less iconic, "Dress You Up" is pretty much awesome X 1000. And I've always loved "Angel" ... it charted well, but tends to be forgotten. I prefer the STR mix of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore."

"Stay" is one of my favorite Madonna songs ever. Makes me so happy. There's a lot of genuine joy on this album. "Dress You Up," "Angel," "Over and Over"... all favorites. And "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" features what is possibly her most fearless and ambitious vocal performance to date.

Here's a great little interview/press conference footage video that preceded the album's release. She challenges John Oates a bit during the press conference part.

^ i've always loved that discussion panel/interview. she's so smart.
It basically comes down to that word: love. I guess that's what it's all about.

This is the Madonna album I never really listened to. I think I heard it completely for the first time this year, but I can't say I remember much from it (except the singles which, as said, were played to death). As a comparison, the first album I know by heart and can still listen to it any day.

I find this album to be much stronger than her first. I absolutely love to death songs like "Over and Over," "Stay," and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore," whereas the non-single songs from the first album are largely forgettable, in my opinion.

Stay is one of my favourite Madonna songs. It's dated and seems kind of forgettable at first, but it's a really pretty ballad. Some guy released an album with an interesting cover version of the song, but I can't remember his name right now.

That said, I think LAV is Madonna's weakest effort, along with Hard Candy and MDNA. I also prefer the first album.

For those of you who've never heard it, here's Rose Royce's original version of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" from 1978:

I've never liked the last two songs, but I have a soft spot for Shoo-Bee-Doo, Angel and Dress You Up.
