It's ridiculous but somehow I don't hate it.

I keep thinking of this, when I look at the album title:

Video! Beth looks fabulous. It's well-done all around.

Love the video! I do have to agree with Ron that I always think of the Dolly Parton/Queen Latifah movie when I hear the album name, it's just too soon after that came out to use the same title for something else.

Anybody else going to see the record release show at Terminal 5? Tickets went on sale today.

I'm tempted but might wait for a full tour that stops in Philly.

I was thinking of waiting originally, but since they're in Europe until at least the end of July, I figured it'd be worth the trip to not have to wait until August/September.

Wait, is that really the album cover?

Also, the video looks like a mix of an Adele and an Evanesence music video.

The album cover is so wrong, it's right! I really like it! I've never really heard a full Gossip album, but I do like Heavy Cross and Do You Need Someone (solo Beth). I might check this new album out.

I found a rip of the stream by doing some Google Blog searching.

Took a listen via a lake front run, and my first reaction is mixed. First off, the quality wasn't ideal so I think that had to be why it sounded so flat at times. However, there's definitely some strong melody at work here. I noticed the group has a tendency to use similar phrasing, though...I think that's the word I'm looking for. It just makes all of the songs flow too similarly. There's great production work throughout. "Get Lost" has such a pure 90s vibe, with that piano. I love it! Also, "Love in a Foreign Place" is a big closer. It started off and I kinda groaned, thinking it wouldn't go anywhere. But it left me wanting to replay the album. There's some reorganizing that should be done with the tracklist, actually.

So yes, we'll see. I need a few more listens, at the least, and in high quality.

This is one album where the quality of the audio really does count. In 320 Kbps it's really beautifully atmospheric and enchanting. The work on Beth's vocals then help to punch out the keyboards and bass when they enter.
