    Rough lives for those kids.
And it's going to be how do we think government should work and who do we think government should work for?

    It's the ... 41st, I think... anniversary of Elvis's death also. I would say it's a shit day for music, but it's Madonna's 60th birthday, so it's definitely significant.

Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

Cue storm of nasty bullshit from Trumpies.
And it's going to be how do we think government should work and who do we think government should work for?

    It won’t happen to Trump.

I have, like all rational people should, complicated feelings about McCain.

So I don't mean this as total disrespect to him but good god watch this

^One of the most disgusting people I can think of. The liberal response to his death has been absolutely nauseating.

And the ghosts that we knew will flicker from view
And we'll live a long life

As vehemently as I disagreed with his politics, he was a man who gave his entire life to public service. That should earn him - at the very least - a little respect on the day of his passing.

Last night, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent a tweet expressing fondness for McCain, who she had encountered while working as an intern for Ted Kennedy. Seeing the reactions of many of the responders to the tweet, you might have thought that she had renounced democratic socialism and become a Trumpie. Her different perspective was, to a lot of folks, betrayal. Elsewhere, a noted author ended her tweet with “hope he suffered”. I responded saying my parents had died of cancer, and by saying that — although I definitely wish for bad people receiving comeuppance or justice — I don’t wish for people to suffer physical pain. Ever.

Obviously, I had a lot of disagreements with McCain. But I also liked him, and the biggest reason was that he stood for something in our politics that scarcely exists anymore. And that is that the American system works best when it involves vigorous but civil debate and then compromise. What we have now is a sick joke; he realized that and said as such. He voted against the Obamacare repeal not because he supported Obamacare, but because he wanted a bill created under regular order, with debate and compromise. That moment was the last great stand of that mentality. It may have died with McCain. And plus, he was a fascinating mix of grievous flaws and genuine decency.

Most politicians are so fucking dry and boring. He wasn’t. That means something.

So my feelings toward him are mixed, but more positive than negative. I don’t think political beliefs are the sum total of a person. And if some think that makes me a Bad Liberal — well, I guess they’re entitled to their opinion.
And it's going to be how do we think government should work and who do we think government should work for?

Reading the article, it sounds like she was unwell. Can't quite read between the lines if it was sort of suicide by cop.
