The remasters mostly fix that, particularly for UTP.

I typed up a longer post, but it didn't take. I feel like "America", "Trouble's Lament", "Promise" and "Giant's Rolling Pin" don't belong on the album, though I love the first two songs; not so much the latter two.

Edit: My original post did appear:

A nearly perfect album. I love all of the songs minus the infamous two: "Promise" and "Giant's Rolling Pin". I appreciate the former and simply can't with the latter. I consider them b-sides. Also, as much as I love "America" (beautiful but too political for a non-political album - especially as the opener) and "Troubles Lament" (fun but the style and sound don't gel effortlessly with the other songs), I don't usually include them on my edit.

I do include all of the b-sides, though:
My go to edit. Don't @ me, lol.

I have this UG playlist that divides the album in two parts. One with the "band" songs, and one with the solo songs. It goes like this:

16 Shades of Blue (i think it's nice for an opener - unexpected and gives the age message)
    Wedding Day
    America
    Wild Way
Unrepentant Geraldines (Vicar's wife segment as a link to the second part)
    Forest of Glass
    Dixie
    Selkie
    Weatherman
    Oysters
    Invisible Boy

I get that it can feel too mellow or same-y, but i listen like this sometimes and it flows nice.

I adore the story and imagery in "Weatherman" - it's straightforward but so poetic and lovely. I think it would make a beautiful animated short set to music.

Was listening to Tori on shuffle and "Unrepentant Geraldines" the song came up among some older material; apart from the fake drums that have no bite, it sounded really really good. Great atmosphere, melody, vocals, backing vocals... very good.

I was listening to Dixie today for the first time in forever, and I realized why I don't really care for the piano intro: it sounds like she was playing the Selkie riff and just slowed it down, reharmonized it slightly, and called it a new riff. Having both songs from the same album throws me.
