I meant on festivals... and it doesn't have to be a complete band/rock-show and of course she should do a few songs solo, she is brilliant at that. But for a festival she could use some more oomph here and there. In my opinion those loops are just not the best way (allthough definitely the cheapest) to provide that.

Honestly my favourite combination was tori+strings because they didn't drown the piano. The classical rock band setting can be boring, especially - as previously mentioned - when the musicians (and technicians) don't actually care much about complimenting the main instrument and just "do their job". Yes Caton was absolutely perfect in that.
Also, she struggles a lot more when she has to sing above all that rock stuff. I follow a lot the metal scene and you really have to have a strong technique to survive those volumes and tour dates. That's why a lot of metal female singers are classically trained even if they sing in a more modern style (Floor Jansen comes to my mind), or have veeeeeeery strict routines (see Lzzy Hale's). I don't think Tori could survive a band tour with her voice intact, nowadays (SEE 2009).

On the other hand, solo shows are boring for me. I'd rather have a drummer on the songs where she uses loops, someone that comes out when needed.
So I'd rather see her perform with an acoustic band.

I prefer Tori solo to having a band. By a lot. The only exception is when she had Caton with her. She doesn't need a band.

Tori + Strings was divine. And those quartet boys were so cute. I highly doubt that ever happens again, but I would LOVE it if she did! It is SO CRIMINAL that no professionally produced/mastered NOH shows were ever created.

I agree, that was very special! I don't understand the choices she makes sometimes. Or actually quite often...

I'd imagine doing a mini tour like this with a band would be too expensive. This feels very spontaneous - a few dates in a limited geographical region, then a few festival dates dispersed over the summer. With a band she'd probably need to do a substantially larger number of dates to break even, as well as more rehearsal time and a tighter schedule.

For realz! Although 96 has Live from New York which was fairly representative of the DDI tour.

Yeah no, she's been sounding consistently amazing these past few shows. The only thing I could possibly fault her for in that "I Can't See New York" performance is that I think she's relying a little too heavily on her head voice that it almost sounds falsetto. Still, a beautiful performance.

Said no one ever... I mean, like what?!

Her voice sounds great for a woman of 52 that's been consistently touring forever now.
