    Janet Jackson

Janet finally announced her new album/tour last night:

Thank god! I was so scared that she'd quit her music career for her husband. Janet usually delivers at least a couple of gems per album. 'Rock With U' is still such a catchy pop song. My favorite by her is easily 'If', followed by 'What About'.

I'm all about Velvet Rope (the song) followed by Runaway, and then... Idk. I need more Janet in my life.

Octupussy, those are my top two Janet songs as well We must have similar Miss Jackson taste.

My favorites following those two are:

    Trust A Try
    I Get Lonely
    If
Son Of A Gun (w/ Carly Simon) - Album version, not the Missy Elliot abomination.
    Throb
    All Night (Don't Stop)

    My faves:

    If
Love Will Never Do (Without You)
    Scream (with Michael Jackson)
    That's the Way Love Goes
    Got 'Til It's Gone
    Truth
The Best Things in Life Are Free (with Luthor Vandross)
    What About
    What'll I Do
    Twenty Fourplay
    Can't B Good

I love Janet. She's been referenced recently in the Contentious Musical Statements board, and I made a comment about her singing style. I get that she has a very "produced" sound but I think she has a distinctly sweet and sexy quality to her voice that is enormously appealing. And it's definitely not as robotic as a lot of pop voices these days.

janet. and The Velvet Rope are just flat-out excellent pop albums. Between the albums themselves and the videos that accompanied them, she really was one of the major and defining pop artists of the 90's (the 80's as well). I held out hope that she'd make a substantial comeback, but the time for that seems to have passed. I think Damita Jo was way underrated and far superior to All For You--but its release coincided with the Super Bowl controversy. The albums that followed have been hit-or-miss. Discipline had some good songs but was overall perhaps her worst effort. She just got REALLY repetitive with the sex kitten routine.

I love Janet! I've been on a major JJ One-time kick lately. Bring it on! I think she's criminally underrated. Some of my faves: Love Will Never Do (Without You), All for You, Someone to Call my Lover, Got 'Till Its Gone, Empty, Strong Enough

I'm not ready to even try to compile my favorite Janet Jackson songs in order... but I will say that "Again" is a song I always get a little bit emotional over.

All For You was a very special album for me. Love that Trust a Try got some love in here. I went to the All For You concert with some friends in high school.. and Trust A Try was my favorite dance number from the entire show.

I am very excited for this new album! The last couple releases didn't go anywhere for me. Damita Jo was such a throwaway album on many levels for me.. but I did love the first single and Strawberry Bounce. woot.

I listened to Janet in the early/ mid 90's. I still think Rhythm Nation/ Janet/ The Velvet Rope make a hell of a trilogy but she sadly took such a downhill slide with the following albums. I'm looking forward to the new release, here's hoping it will be the real follow-up to the aforementioned trilogy.

My favorite Janet Jackson song of all time is Any Time, Any Place - oh that song is pure sex.
    and the following:

    Again - Timeless

Someone to Call My Lover - (Jermaine Dupree remix version)

I Get So Lonely - Can't let just anybody hold me.

Son of Gun - My favorite line in any of her songs "I'd rather keep the trash and throw you out.. Stupid bitch in my beach house" haha and the next few lines "I'll never be your lover; I'm gonna make you suffer, You stupid mutherfucker."

Doesn't Really Matter - Nutty Nutty Nutty

    Control

Love Will Never Do Without You

    Nasty

    Miss You Much

    If
    Who said you were evil?

Also, the first single is called "No Sleep" and the album is available for pre-order:

I hope it's an amazing era with ass-kicking music that's back on track...

...but the image on that announcement is an absolute mess.
