The Pele Blows: 20 Years of BfP Live Listening Party - SUN, JAN 24 @ 11pmGMT/6pmEST

Boys for Pele is turning 20!

"It's not a revenge record but a releasing record. I've been angry at myself, too, for getting into certain situations with men. Anger is healthy, but out of balance if it doesn't have compassion."
    [Spin - March 1996]
Boys for Pele has been released on January 22nd, 1996. It's been considered by many in here as Tori's absolute masterpiece. So we're doing a small celebration of that special record. But instead of listening to it the traditional way, we'll be doing a live listening party with all the tracks of the album in their live reincarnations from 20 years of touring.

    What will you hear?
This Listening Party will include the same track listing of the album, but using live versions compiled from the last 20 years with different formats and from different eras (band, solo, harpsichord, strings...)

    When is it taking place?
It will take place on Sunday, January 24 at 11pm GMT/6pm EST as all our previous Listening Parties.

    How will it take place?
There will be a link 30 minutes before the listening party, which you would have to download in order to have access to the selected songs and enjoy the same listening experience as everyone. During/after the Listening Party, we will provide the list of tracks played and which show they come from.

We hope you'll take part in it and enjoy this!

Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

I'm only going to join in if it's completely made up of nasal, 20-minute versions from the Beekeeper tour.

    Total run time: 6hrs 34mins.

Gosh... 20 years.... I remember so clearly being all because it didn't sound like LE or UTP. The CALS single was released prior so upon listening to that - I knew the harpsichord was going to change shit up a LOT. I remember being so amazed that a person could just so casually take on a new instrument... and then write a whole album on it! And the silly songs were so silly! It took a few listens to get used to, but the return was well worth it. The DDI tour was incredibly memorable for me; I think I saw 11 shows during that tour including the first shows in Florida and the last shows in Colorado.

Ahhh.... I'm so very, very old...

I'll try to be around for this. Still my favorite album by anyone, ever, and was my first Tori album too at the tender age of 13.

I may be into this. Along with Bjork's Post this was one of the albums that opened me up to a new world of what music and art could do. Talk about gateway drugs.
