Thread: Your 10 least favourite actors / actresses

  1. #1

Thumbs down Your 10 least favourite actors / actresses

Consider this a companion piece to my other thread. Feel free to share your lists of performers whose work you don't care for, and I'll be sharing mine shortly.

P.S. This isn't intended as a hate thread or a place to indiscriminately bash people. Simply a place to discuss what you like and don't like.

Ha, this is much easier! Insert all lame comedy stars here

    Adam Sandler (worst comedian ever)
Ron Schneider (second worst comedian ever)
Jeremy Renner (although I did like Hurt Locker)
    Wayans brothers (fucking spoof movies)
    Nicholas Cage ("not the beeeeees")
    Sarah Jessica Parker (OMG SHOES)
    Megan Fox (I think she's a robot)
Katherine Heigl (every romcom she's in is never funny nor romantic)
Shia labeouf (attentionwhore without the acting skills)
Denise Richards (James Bond Rocket Scientist, lol)

    Johnny Depp. Seriously, stop it.
Steve Carell. Stop trying, you're not funny.
    Kristen Wiig. See above.
Melissa McCarthy. I have the suspicion she's actually a good actress, she just picks horrible characters.
Robert Downey Jr. He was more interesting when his life was a mess.
Charlie Sheen. He's an asshole too.
Matthew Perry. Or I just hate Chandler.
Scarlett Johanson. I'm gonna be killed for this, but she is always acting like she's deppresed and constipated.
Gerard Butler. I don't even know if he's an actor, because people only remember him for his CGI abs in 300.
John Travolta and Nicholas Cage are two obvious choices, right?

^God, the people holding up Kristen Wiig as some kind of comedy genius are just endlessly perplexing to me. Even among her peers she has absolutely nothing on, like, Maya Rudolph or whoever.

Yeah, she's not good at comedy. She totally ruined Paul, IMO.

I'm the exact opposite. Love Kristen Wiig, can't stand Maya Rudolph.

I think that Carell and Wiig are excellent at both comedy and drama. Carell is superb in The Big Short. Totally Screwed By Oscar. And in The Martian, Wiig takes a role that easily could have been a caricature and hits just the right note with it.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

Paul Dano (ruined There Will Be Blood and several other movies)
Russell Brand (the most unfunny comedian to ever make it so big)
Jena Malone (terribly forced, especially her "precocious child" roles)
Mark Wahlberg (overly aggressive hothead with a Napoleon complex; can't watch him without remembering that he blinded a man in a race-based hate crime in his youth)
Jason Schwartzman (Hollywood nepotism at its worst)
Alan Alda (his stuttering, flustered acting style is painful for me to watch)
Justin Timberlake (just can't take him seriously as an actor)
Michael Cera (not his fault really, just can't stand his face/voice)
Reese Witherspoon (she started out so good with movies like Election and Freeway, and descending into Hollywood banality)
Steve Martin (never thought he was funny)

^I actually like Elle Fanning and even prefer her to Dakota, but I think all your other picks are spot-on.

Keira 'Ikea' Knightly. Wooden? More like cheap MDF.
Natalie Portman. Boring as fuck. Would never see a film because she's in it only despite it.
Orlando Bloom. Nepotism + elf wigs. Useless.
Johnny Depp. Keith Richards impressions and overly mannered, ticcy performances do not equal great talent.
Megan Fox. Pound Store Angelina Jolie. Although she did tell pervert and horrible director Michael Bay he was Hitler so I give her points for both perspicacity and balls.
    Mark Wahlberg. Mong. Mong. Super-mong.
Adam Sandler. Fuck off and die.
Scarlet Johansson. Expressions range from 'vacant as fuck' to 'please fuck me' to 'here are my lips'. Woo. Can work in an undemanding piece, I just object to people confusing 'hot' with 'talent' or'charisma'.
9and 10 can be whichever basically interchangeable models trying to break into the biz by shagging A-list talent or directors are current this month. Amber Heard, the one with the stupid eyebrows, whichever.

^ I honestly thought I was the only person who felt this way about Portman and Johansson - so pleased to be confounded. Both are completely devoid of any discernible personality or skill beyond "stand still, look pretty". They do select good projects though.

    My picks:
    01. Will Ferrell (Loud, obnoxious and painfully unfunny, when is he going to go away?)
    02. Adam Sandler
    03. Mark Wahlberg
    04. Neil Patrick Harris
    05. Shia LaBeouf
    06. James Franco
    07. Kristen Stewart (and, yes, I've seen her work beyond "Twilight", including her - God help us all - award-winning performance in Sils-Maria)
    08. Samuel L. Jackson
    09. Jeremy Renner
    10. Natalie Dormer

I agree that Bloom isn't particularly talented (and I think most industry people have realised this too), but what part has nepotism played in his career? As far as I'm aware he didn't have any links in before he trained.

    Mark Wahlberg
    Orlando Bloom
    Scarlett Johansson
    Miranda July
    Seth Rogan
    Nicolas Cage
    John Travolta
Alison Williams (GOD SHE IS AWFUL)
Lindsay Lohan (she's not good, she was never good, even in her good movies she was never good)
    Michael Cera

ETA: Jason Schwartzmann should also be on this list. I cannot stand him. And the brothers Wilson - Owen and Luke.

Kristen Stewart almost made it but then I remembered Michael Cera exists.

I actually don't care for Wiig but I think Carell is brilliant.
