Unfortunately this is also mobilizing the right. If Democrats get their way and Kavanaugh is not confirmed, the right is gong to be fired up for midterms. I feel like we’re going to fuck ourselves one way or another.

Yep, the voter enthusiasm number in some polls shows an uptick of about 20% for the Rs since the Kavanaugh shitshow started.

I can't even listen to Collins speech. I tried to, but I'm afraid I'm going to end up throwing something at my computer monitor and breaking it. This fucking sucks.

But... enthusiastic people who were NEVER going to vote for Dems unless they reverted to their pre-60s roots. To repeal slavery and whatnot. So it might have inflamed the base, but they were always going R and probably going to vote in the midterms anyway. Kavanaugh isn't going to win a significant amount of independents. And that is what the GOP needs to fight a potential blue wave. I'm not saying it was good that the idiots were riled up and rarin' to go, but isn't that a problem we already had?

If he was unconfirmed, maybe it'd be a problem, but on Oct 6 2016 the pussy tape dropped and the religious wackos forgot in 6 weeks. Kavanaugh might have been forgotten in that time too. But not for the lefties either way. We remember. We're done.

At least the Chicago cop was found guilty. There is only so much systematic oppression I can take in a day.

I'm not watching Collins' speech, but it sounds like she's a lying sack of shit, begging the people of Maine not to fire her next time. I wish I had more faith in the people of Maine, but I don't. Maine is the Florida of New England, especially in that the further north you get, the more south it is (Stephen and Angus King excepted). Wide swaths of poverty, virulent racism for like the third whitest state. I mean, just look at their governor, who might actually be the worst out of all 50, including Rick Scott. That's a feat. I could rant about Maine all day. And, to be fair, I have many, many, many times in the past. And probably the future.

Ok, I turned it on and she's comparing Kavanaugh and Garland's records and I might break my tv

The thing that is making me rage is all of the GOP saying, "Well, we believe she was assaulted, but not by Bret." WELL YOU DON'T FUCKING BELIEVE HER THEN.

I need to take a walk.

If it turns out that they're using caller ID to track calls and all of these people are not calling from their states, why are they going to listen to ANY of the messages because the pool has been tainted?
I'm far from a professional but I've never had that problem. During morning hours a staffer is very likely to take your call or put you on hold. The caller ID thing is something I'll have to google.
I respect you so much, you know I do, and I don't want to argue with you.. but that's like saying all the people yelling "Shame, Shame, Shame" at Manchin shouldn't be doing so unless they're only from West Virginia. Senators get their salaries from the Treasury which gets their money from mostly income tax and corporate taxes if I'm remembering my Civics. So all 100 of them are employed by us.. but also I don't care. Roberts Rules of Order got thrown out the window 2 years ago.

And I'm telling you, if Joe Donnelly loses the senate seat here in Indiana that's more incentive for me to think about moving to more liberal areas so that I can talk to like-minded folk when I do call my representatives. I've been talking to almost all Republican's my entire life as an eligible voter. I know it's a sucky move to just stop fighting the good fight and making, trying to make things better for reproductive rights and LGBT rights in the heartland.. but sometimes you just got to do what you got to do. And I have friends and family in Denver and tons of reasons besides this to start anew somewhere like that.

I don't know who Collins was talking about for 45 mins (lol) but whomever it was that dude sounds like a straight up socialist. I'm so glad we have a great, liberal justice who will support gay rights, women's rights, and was the single most vital factor in keeping the Affordable Care Act.

I'm hesitant to go in on Collins simply because she represents a dying breed. Moderation is going out the door both ways you look. And all my memories of Collins and Olympia Snow (for that matter) was that they were always open to working with the other side. I'm mad at her tomorrow if she does go through with her vote.. but I'll never stop respecting her for what she has done in the past.

But maybe it's time for Collins to have a strongly contested election when she's next on the ballot.

Maybe it's also time for Pelosi to let someone else lead the House if we can get it back. We won't hold it long if we don't get some new exciting represenatives to make people enthusiastic to be Democrats, again.

Today a report was released that said unemployment is at an all-time low. It's been almost 50 years since it's been this low. So.. it's becoming a steeper hill to do anything in the senate... hopefully the house can still shake it up. Real Clear Politics makes it seem almost inevitable but ... polls. I don't really think polls matter during such greatly divided times as these.

But I promise you, I've been out to two big fall festivals in the last week and twice i've heard conversations about this and one of the Classic Rock Coverbands at Valley Days (The Devonshires) got the crowd all hyped up with Anti-Trump talk and they got as many cheers from the crowd for that as anything else they said. And that made me feel good. This was in Borden, Indiana. When Ted Cruz came to Indiana for the Indiana Republican Primary his first stop was Borden, Indiana. A very, very conservative part of southern Indiana that is getting younger and more educated adults raising their families there every year.

Something was very odd about her cadence. I think she was either extremely nervous giving that speech or extremely tired.. maybe both.

I needed a palate cleanser. All my nightmares last night were of me just screaming at people. It was an unconscious Festivus. I aired all the grievances.

Did you guys see this yet? So, she totallllllly thinks he should not sit on the SCOTUS, so much so that to make sure he can be confirmed today and not further stall the process she will just not vote at all because a Yes voter will be absent?

Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."
