I love Molly Shannon too. That clip was great. I wish she'd been nominated for an Oscar too, she deserved it.

I love that Feud and Big Little Lies have done so well. (Dern and Woodley also got nominations in the supporting category I didn't list) I lived for those shows. But Leftovers not getting a single acting nomination??? Wtf? Girls was also kinda shut out except for two guest acting nominations one including Riz Ahmed. Riz will be the toast of the town with his multiple nominations.

Rupaul's Drag Race has quite a few nominations as well. Glad it got in with some techie noms.
    But
Why is Modern Family still getting nominated??? Does anyone still watch that show?

I'm very happy that Better Call Saul finally got some much deserved nominations, but where the fuck is Michael McKean on the supporting actor list?! I love Jonathan Banks but Michael McKean's performance, especially this season, was amazing.
    Suck it, Shawn.

    Thumbs up

A lot of people are pissed about McKean. And about Carrie Coon not being nominated for The Leftovers. (She was nominated for Supporting in Fargo.)

My favorite story out of the nominations was Shannon Purser for Stranger Things. I still haven't seen it yet (I plan to before the new season.) But I just think it's neat that she got a nod for her first acting job ever. And her Twitter feed was very cute with she and her fans so excited. She already has 120K followers!

Glad Sam Bee got a nod. Kinda pissed that Seth Meyers didn't. He's been doing some great stuff lately.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

I'm happy for Shannon Purser and all, but like, I feel like she has maybe 3 lines in the whole series which could have been delivered by literally anybody. I'm really baffled by her nom and I think it's just a result of the enormous Barb love on social media. Honestly, there were so many more deserving performances.

You're not the only one to say that. And who knows, maybe I'll agree after I see the show. But I just find it fascinating on a cultural level. Barb just ran smack into the zeitgeist. I think a lot of people who grew up in the Eighties saw Barb and saw themselves. Kind of dorky, not skinny, etc. And something about what Purser did with the role spoke to them. Those are the Emmy voters. And judging from her social media, she appeals to a lot of kids to: as Barb, and as herself. She is kind of a remarkable young woman.

So basically, I think this just makes a lot of people feel good. #JusticeForBarb has been achieved, and a good person has won something. In times like these, that's nice to see. And maybe some deserve it more, but never forget that the idea of actors and other creative artists competing with each other is inherently silly.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

I'm happy for her. I mean
    so soak it all in!
They could have gone with any of the other cast, the show is that good. The fact they went with this actress is rad.

Yeah, it is kind of a feel good story, and I'm sure she is stunned and walking on air. I was just thinking from the point of view of veteran actors who've put in years of great work and what a nom would have meant for their careers (maybe not as much as I'd think?) And if she wins, I'm thinking there might be some backlash.
