I haven't been this angry (and, to be fair, unsurprised) in a very long time. Like I want to break shit. The audacity. The hypocrisy.

Fox News had a story at the height of the presidential election that detailed an alleged sexual relationship between porn actress Stephanie Clifford -- whose stage name is "Stormy Daniels" -- and Donald Trump, but opted not to publish it, four people familiar with the matter told CNN.

One of the network's reporters, Diana Falzone, had filed a story in October 2016 about an alleged sexual relationship between Clifford and Trump, people familiar with the matter said.

Falzone had an on-the-record statement from Clifford's manager at the time, Gina Rodriguez, confirming that her client had engaged in a sexual relationship with Trump, three of these people said, and Falzone had even seen emails about a settlement.

But the story never saw the light of the day, to the frustration of Falzone, two of the people said.

"She had the story and Fox killed it," one of the people familiar with the matter told CNN.

Why the hell would you take it to Fox anyway? They love the GOP no matter who is running. While discussing things with other news outlets who wanted to run the story, Daniels got nervous or something. The opportunity was there, but she backed out. So who really killed the story?

Additionally, Slate and The Daily Beast have both said they had been in communication with Daniels about a possible story in the weeks leading up to the election.

Jacob Weisberg, editor-in-chief of the Slate Group, wrote in an article published Tuesday that he had communicated with Daniels and had a copy of an unsigned settlement agreement. Daniels, however, ultimately "stopped responding to calls and text messages," he said. Weisberg wrote that he "considered publishing the story without her cooperation," but that he knew it was possible Daniels could "disavow" what she told him and that he "lacked independent corroboration."

The Daily Beast said in an article published Friday that it had been in talks for an interview with Clifford before the election, and that it had three sources talking about the relationship between Clifford and Trump, but that she had backed out of an interview not long before Election Day.

I got the impression Daniels worked for FOX so she didn't take it to them... it was just there. And maybe she tried to shop it elsewhere after and FOX wouldn't let her? That would explain why she wouldn't return the calls you posted.

according to the Daily Beast's Betsy Woodruff "Mueller will hear everything Bannon has to say". In short, there will be no executive privilege invoked.

And if it’s in front of a grand jury he’ll have no lawyer present.

The girther hashtag on twitter has a lot of pics hot guys who are actually 6'3" ish and 230ish lbs.... And also a lot of A-rod, if that's your thing. So it's always nice to look at hot guys. Again, I dgaf what he weighs and how tall he is: I don't like being lied to like we're in North Korea.

I can't imagine why they were in there all day with Bannon. Oh, wait. Maybe this is a clue!

I weigh 275 lbs. And I'm taller than him. And he looks WAY fatter than me. So yeah, count me as a girther.

ETA: They say he's 6'3"? OK, we're the same height. UNLESS THAT'S BULLSHIT TOO.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

A fucking 8 year old sitting there nodding and agreeing with how amazing he is and how he is the only reason for such success in America today.
When Trump won a bar in my town renamed itself "Great American Bar and Grill" - my aunt is really good friends with the owners. I asked them why they renamed it back then and long story short: America was great again. I also know people who would say a lot worse than Trump on almost every issue. They're not evil people in the way Trump is because he has power.. but.. his base, I think, should be pleased as pie.
And then you have Laura Ingraham coming on at 10pm the night of controversy saying, Yea, those countries aren't ideal on FAUX News.

    ANYHOW.
I wonder what DACA recipients and Dreamers and many immigrant communtities are feeling right now with Dick Durbin saying all this, which I am sure he had to, before a deal was made. I mean, did Durbin cost them a deal? Was there ever going to be a deal? They only have til March to get it done. I'm not completely read up on this issue but the Democrats from my pov, think they're going to win this. And from my point of view how.. now? They've always been in the minority. And even if they get 60 votes .. it has to be signed.
I don't think they can just start deporting college students. Surely Trump wouldn't let that happen even if no deal is reached.

I just.. I couldn't believe how close it felt for having a bit of concrete relief for at least DACA.

My understanding was that someone (Kelly? Miller?) convinced Trump after he told Feinstein he'd sign anything that to sign this would piss off his base. And he's stupid enough to believe that, so he's not going to sign anything, even though DACA protection is popular in the polls. He doesn't understand that to get re-elected (vomit) he can't win just his base and he's alienated moderates, independents, and Stein/Johnson voters who hated Clinton. Plus it's bad policy and literally makes him look like an orange grinch.

No one seems to be blaming Durbin. Maybe he said it BECAUSE a deal wasn't going to happen. Maybe he felt he could keep his mouth shut if it saved the DACA people. And when he knew it wasn't going to happen, he was going to make sure everyone knew it was because of racism.

^Gotcha. I know Graham was particularly hopeful they could just get it done as soon as possible.
Since I asked that question on here I found out that a group of super right-wingers pulled him aside and said no legislation at all on immigration. They want to pass the short-term spending bill, give the democrats 6 years of guaranteed healthcare programs for children. They want to make it look like it's the democrats fault in the senate if the bill doesn't pass.
Then I got a news alert that the Freedom Club isn't going to let the bill out of the house with the healthcare spending. My goodness.. the GOP is imploding on itself. Forget trying to get Trump to make a deal.. they can't even compromise with themselves.. of course all this is Pre-Trump really.. The gridlock happened before and seems to be never ending within GOP leadership.

God, I pray they do something for DACA. Have a heart, Freedom Club.

Former White House strategist Steve Bannon has struck a deal to be interviewed by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team rather than appearing before a grand jury, CNN reported on Wednesday, citing sources close to Bannon.

I wonder what the terms of this deal were. Surely Mueller's team isn't going to put up with executive privilege horeshit.
