My previous endorsement of Avenatti was clearly not strong enough

So Michael Cohen is proving to be a lot more important in this case. It’s not just hush money to porn stars. His shell LLC has also received $400,000 payments from pharmaceutical giant Novartis and AT&T. Both companies have released statements that are absolute bullshit.

Now how and why would Novartis and AT&T make payments for hundreds of thousands of dollars to a small shell LLC with only one owner?

We've talked about this before, but we haven't talked in a while. And I don't think we've talked about it since the disasters of DACA rescinding, record judge appointing, Iran withdrawing.

What if this is true? What if these people weren't given provisional ballots? What if those ballots weren't counted? What if it was in PA or WI? What do we do if it turns out that there was widespread tampering rather than just fuckery? I mean, I know there are zero legal recourses other than impeachment and removal, but I'm talking more generally. I know we'd just have to white knuckle it to November and hope there's a blue wave THAT ALSO DIDN'T GET TAMPERED WITH.

I haven't forgotten about the possibility that there were shenanigans above what Citizens United allows. Every time I see a "Hillary did ___ wrong" comment, I want to scream. Maybe she didn't do anything wrong. Maybe you should shut your fucking mouth before I punch you in the head.

I know the Cohen stuff is a big deal and the Iran deal and the 3000 other thing that happened this week, but this really bothers me and I'm tired of reading "get over it" type of shit when my gut is telling me it's not just bad electoral math.

It certainly explains SO MUCH about how the polls were so off base. Perhaps they weren't. Looking at "this day in history" on facebook (i know, I know) and seeing how low trump was polling going into November, (or how high his disapproval rating was among different demographics) and how he actually did NOT get more votes... add into it the now proven Russian tampering. I just have no hope that things will get better at this point. Russia knows us better than we know ourselves, and they got away with it. They will get away with it again.

I’ll find the twitter thread and post it as soon as I can find it, but what I read today...whoa. It’s SO tangled and SO complex that if Mueller did not have the top of the top, I’m not sure anyone could ever get to the bottom of it.

Basically, if true, it’s all waaay more complex than we ever thought. More complex than any genius fiction writer could possibly ever imagine and put to paper. Someone said a few posts up that Russia knows us better than we know ourselves. From what I read, it seems as if we are now an EXTENSION of Russia.

Edit: go to @AHamiltonSpirit’s twitter and fall down the rabbit hole. It will blow your mind.
Edit:His pinned tweet is a great read. I was specifically referring to this thread. I hope this link works. Took me forever to find it. https://mobile.twitter.com/ahamilton...27694023610368

    Jesus, what a sobering statement.

I don't think the new class of victimized white folks who vote Republican and feel harmed by social progress have ANY idea what makes (or made) America great. Their intellectually bankrupt and morally vacuous platform is miles away from honest self-reflection or self-awareness of any kind.

It's not Trump directly, but more about the kind of place we're at where this bullshit happens and could very well continue to happen for 6.5 more years. Even if there is a blue tsunami and the Dems take control of both chambers and get some courage from the wizard and the orange menace is gone by Valentine's Day, we're still in a bad way as a nation.

Whose Story (and Country) Is This?
On the Myth of a "Real" America

The common denominator of so many of the strange and troubling cultural narratives coming our way is a set of assumptions about who matters, whose story it is, who deserves the pity and the treats and the presumptions of innocence, the kid gloves and the red carpet, and ultimately the kingdom, the power, and the glory. You already know who. It’s white people in general and white men in particular, and especially white Protestant men, some of whom are apparently dismayed to find out that there is going to be, as your mom might have put it, sharing. The history of this country has been written as their story, and the news sometimes still tells it this way—one of the battles of our time is about who the story is about, who matters and who decides.

    ...

Perhaps the actual problem is that white Christian suburban, small-town, and rural America includes too many people who want to live in a bubble and think they’re entitled to, and that all of us who are not like them are menaces and intrusions who needs to be cleared out of the way.

    ...

Once again a small-town white American narrative is being treated as though it’s about all of us or all of us who count, as though the gentrification of immigrant neighborhoods is not also a story that matters, as though Los Angeles and New York City, both of which have larger populations than many American states, are not America. In New York City, the immigrant population alone exceeds the total population of Kansas (or Nebraska or Idaho or West Virginia, where all those coal miners are).

    ...

In the aftermath of the 2016 election, we were told that we needed to be nicer to the white working class, which reaffirmed the message that whiteness and the working class were the same thing and made the vast non-white working class invisible or inconsequential. We were told that Trump voters were the salt of the earth and the authentic sufferers, even though poorer people tended to vote for the other candidate. We were told that we had to be understanding of their choice to vote for a man who threatened to harm almost everyone who was not a white Christian man, because their feelings preempt everyone else’s survival. “Some people think that the people who voted for Trump are racists and sexists and homophobes and deplorable folks,” Bernie Sanders reprimanded us, though studies showed that many were indeed often racists, sexists, and homophobes.

    ...

Sympathy in pro-bubble America often goes reflexively to the white man in the story. The assumption is that the story is about him; he’s the protagonist, the person who matters, and when you, say, read Stephens defending Woody Allen and attacking Dylan Farrow for saying Allen molested her, you see how much work he’s done imagining being Woody Allen, how little being Dylan Farrow or anyone like her. It reminds me of how young women pressing rape charges are often told they’re harming the bright future of the rapist in question, rather than that maybe he did it to himself, and that their bright future should matter too.

    ...

But the follow-up story to the #MeToo upheaval has too often been: how do the consequences of men hideously mistreating women affect men’s comfort? Are men okay with what’s happening? There have been too many stories about men feeling less comfortable, too few about how women might be feeling more secure in offices where harassing coworkers may have been removed or are at least a bit less sure about their right to grope and harass. Men themselves insist on their comfort as a right; Dr. Larry Nassar, the gymnastics doctor who molested more than a hundred girls, objected to having to hear his victims describe what he did and how it impacted them on the grounds that it interfered with his comfort.

We are as a culture moving on to a future with more people and more voices and more possibilities. Some people are being left behind, not because the future is intolerant of them but because they are intolerant of this future. White men, Protestants from the dominant culture are welcome, but as Chris Evans noted, the story isn’t going to be about them all the time, and they won’t always be the ones telling it. It’s about all of us. White Protestants are already a minority and non-white people will become a voting majority in a few decades. This country has room for everybody who believes that there’s room for everybody. For those who don’t—well, that’s partly a battle about who controls the narrative and who it’s about.
I've got nothing against white, non-urban, cis, het, male christians (and I fall into some of those categories myself). So please if you are one I'm not AGAINST you. I just want to be considered just as worthy, just as deserving, just as human.

Where are the infowars/drudge/daily caller/tucker carlson editorials on reaching out to ostracized liberal voters? Their viewers friends and neighbors? Go to some urban center and talk to people and find out why we DIDN'T vote for Trump and never, ever will? Oh, it's not necessary? Well, then neither is the next NYT or whatever's piece on some dumbfuck Trump voter's feeling of "He just says what's on his mind." Spare me.

Plus I am so over the "real" america being some midwestern small town. Fuck that. Good for you, people who live there and like it. But you're not the real america. You're just one of the aspects. No more important than the megalopolis in which I live, the most populous megalopolis in the Western Hemisphere with over 50 million residents according to wikipedia. So approximately 300 million americans... 50mil live within a couple hundred miles of its center... that makes 1/6 of the country's population. We don't count because we're not farmers? We're not better. We just exist and matter just as much.

Did Kim Jun Un just troll the fuck outta Trump??
I can just imagine Trump on his unsecured phone, getting an email from Un... "Lookie here what just popped up from Rocket Man. I wonder how much he's going to offer me for support. Hmmm...click here to see my nuclear disarmament plan?? Okhayy"
*Rick Astley starts singing...."Never gonna give you up...never gonna let you down"*
*Scrolling across the screen is a pic of Un laughing "Did you think we were really going to disarm this easily, you tiny hand tangerine loser!"*
    *Trump to his aides*
    I don't get it.

So wait... isn't that also bribery? Or nah? Do countries regularly offer economic rewards to countries with terrifying dictators to get them to lay off war posturing?!

Every time I think he cannot possibly go any lower. Today he said of people who have been deported, "They're not people. They're animals." Again a reminder that he thinks Nazis are "very fine people".

But yes, I do wish to read another article about why Trump voters deserve respect and we shouldn't hate them for voting for this piece of this.

Today is an avalanche of news. Just breaking right now is that Cohen docs were leaked because they were being deleted/tampered with. Trump is caught dead to rights on the Stormy stuff. A dozen other things. And none of it matters because Congress won't do shit. I mean, there is a tiny sliver of satisfaction of being proved right but it's small comfort when nothing fucking changes except it all gets more chaotic.

We're fucked because people are awful. People who spend time and money making shit like this and the morons who will sincerely buy prints.

^That... wow. That's incredible. Imagine having that much of a boner for your angry racist grandpa President that you actually paint your fantasies.

I still can't get over this brazenness. Now Giuliani is saying Mueller can't indict POTUS; not that he isn't guilty, just that they can't do a damn thing about it if he is.
