New Grandaddy album Last Place out on 3rd of March.

    New song out now:

    Grandaddy - A Lost Machine

    Excellent stuff!
Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

Who's ready for Shania Twain's first album since 2002?!

She says it should be finished by the end of the year. It isn't Lemonade-style anger, but addresses some of her painful and triumphant moments from the last decade or so. Matthew Koma is also involved! So curious to hear how she'll sound without Mutt Lange.

Charli XCX in May 2017, although..."After the Afterparty" is real bad.

I don't think I saw anyone mention Julie Byrne in this thread yet so I will! She is releasing her sophomore album early next year and both songs released thus far have been named pitchfork "best new songs". They have almost a folkish, sweeping Lana Del Rey vibe to them, a little Nico in her voice as well.

    It's called "Not Even Happiness".

Mm! It's achingly generic and you can't hear the Sophie on it particularly at all.

If the sound does overall go in a Sophie direction, though, you can probably still expect one of the albums of the year.

LOL I disagree, I think SOPHIE is hot garbage and makes soulless chipmunk music at best and dentist-drill shrieking at worst.

    THE FUTURE OF POP.

    Hahaha what even is this?!
It's one of those things where I don't know if I'm getting old and don't understand what you young folks listen to anymore or if it's some sort of prank which I also don't understand because I'm getting old.

    Aimee Mann
    The Breeders (hopefully?)
Liz Phair (I would so love a comeback from her. I really think somewhere she has another good album in her after the trolling of her last 3 albums)

I'm really excited for The Magnetic Fields' 50 Song Memoir. I don't expect it to be as brilliant and consistent and eclectic as 69 Love Songs, but it's bound to be better than the last one, which was pure shit IMO.

That is so lame. But I'll look out for "squeaktune" as a new metagenre

These guys are just stealing ideas from Merzbow.

No, seriously, what is this? This is "in" now?

It's the future of pop, you philistine. Don't you know the future of pop is marketed as a butt-plug?

Seriously I fucking can't with SOPHIE if "Hey QT" is the future of pop then I may as well just quit living now.

Joan Osborne is Pledgemusic'ing a Dylan covers album! Yum. If it's half as good as the Dylan songs she's already covered...

Jennifer Kimball (of The Story with Jonatha Brooke) is out officially in February.

Anybody up on whether or not P!nk has anything planned this year? I'm ready!

Xiu Xiu's new album (Forget) was supposed to be out on February 24, but it leaked already. And once again, the lead single is among the most accessible tracks on the collection.
