I'm skipping this tour. Just not a big fan of this era.
The first show of the tour just ended...
The setlist:
Pretty relieved I did not get a ticket to this tour. I'm sure she put on a great show, but I'm not a fan of Joanne, so...
When pianos try to be guitars...out of my black and white world
That's a pretty good set list. Joanne isn't my fave era. I hope she has a successful tour and releases a few more songs.
The Born This Way tour stop was cancelled in my city, and I was unable to attend the Artpop show .. so I've been waiting to see Gaga for a long time. I'm going to the Joanne show at Wrigley Field in a few weeks, and I'm pretty stoked about the set.
I could do without some of the Joanne songs, and a bit more Artpop, but I'm sure it'll be a good time. The videos I've seen from the show seem to be pretty great.
Woof. This show's a mess.

I'm watching most of the show right now on YT. Gaga looks like she's gained some weight. She looks healthy, though.
The show did not seem to be cohesive at all. The video interludes did not match the overall aesthetic and theme of the show. The set design, while ambitious, has all sorts of problems. The bridges are too large and cumbersome, creating obstructed views for those on the ground and expensive seats. The way they use the hydraulic lifts on the stage is pretty innovative, but I fear that there will be injuries due to costumes getting caught in the mechanics and GaGa's history of taking of a tumble.
The transitions were not smooth and there were moments where the audience was just standing around awkwardly, waiting for something to happen. This totally kills "the flow." I also found the costumes to be underwhelming (and in several instances, unfortunate.) The stage banter is cheesey and egocentric. GaGa came across as an arrogant pop star, rather than the humble, inspiring figure in tours past.

As promised, new music is in the way. And after watching this clip, I'm effing excited!
