Exactly, and "even if the patient was impregnated through rape or incest"this is morally acceptable?

    Disgusting.

How, exactly, are they going to enforce this stupid-ass law? I guarantee you that most abortion doctors (who are clearly pro-choice) won't follow these guidelines. Any doctor who thinks these guidelines should be followed probably doesn't perform abortions anyway.

Not being able to be sued for keeping medical information from a patient ... how is that not against AMA rules? How can you keep information about their health from a patient and have that be kosher?

Wasn't the only doctor in that little hovel of a state who actually performed abortions brutally murdered by terrorists? George Tiller? Or was that Nebraska?

Dr. Tiller practiced in Wichita, Kansas.

My guess is that he would have done civil disobedience if given this horrific requirement. So should any medical profession who gives a shit about the Hippocratic Oath, not to mention simple human decency.

And you know, what about this whole "no big government" thing? Oh, the DEMS make too many laws, make government too big, waste taxpayer money on stupid things, don't let people do what they want, create a nanny state... so if philosophically you don't want government to be big, why are you pushing laws that intrude upon medical care? Big government is bad when you want to avoid paying taxes or minimum wage or buy a gazillion guns, but big government is good when you want to interfere with a WOMAN's medical care or teh gheys getting married.

I don't know if they do the ultrasound thing in south dakota, but they DO make you verbally acknowledge that you are terminating a human life when getting an abortion- it's a more detailed speech than that, but that's the gist of it. They also take a good amount of personal information, presumably because they anticipate using it against you later (yeah, that's really gonna fly with the courts even if, god forbid, roe v wade is struck down).

South Dakota has an abortionist fly in something like once a month and even that handful of abortions that must take place at that time is just OMG UNFORGIVABLE.

    WTF?

Coming from somebody that looks at fetuses all day, how can a state government mandate a medical procedure be completed before a d&c? If one of my clients wants to refuse an endovaginal examination, that's her right, but it seems that OK has taken away that right from women having an elective AB. How is this ethical?

And yes, as Roxy said, who is paying for all these unnecessary ultrasounds? The same people that voted these idiots into office.

I feel for those at this crossroads in Oklahoma.

I think anyone who decides to carry a fetus to term should be required to watch a video of a vag-splosion, followed by a forced-listen of an hour-long MP3 of "Mom!? Mom!? MOM! MOM! MOMMY!! I WANT APPLE JUICE! MOM!! MOMMMMMM!"

It just might slow the rate of unplanned pregnancies.

Showing graphic images of just how big and bad the worst stretch marks can be to teen girls just starting to feel sexy would probably help too. God, you've got to REALLY KNOW you want a kid to be willing to risk what can happen to your body.

The St. Paul, Minn. city attorney will not press charges against Tom Hackbarth, a Republican state representative who was handcuffed by police last month after they found him lurking outside a Planned Parenthood with a gun strapped to his hip.

    Irish abortion laws developments:

European court to rule on Irish abortion laws

THE EUROPEAN Court of Human Rights will next week issue a ruling on whether Ireland’s restrictions on abortion violate women’s human rights.

The ruling, which could have significant implications for Irish abortion law, is based on a case taken by three women in Ireland who say their health was put at risk by being forced to go abroad for abortions.
