God dammit! I need it to be on another site! why is it always on the same shitty site?

While her voice isn't quite the low chest-voice she used in SLG, it's nice to hear her using a lower register in the verses. It's much more natural. The "Gotta get you back to you... yoooou-hoooooo, yooooou-hooooooo" bits are sung higher and are very reminiscent of the "tuuuurn" bits of Oysters (though not quite that high). The piano is really the star here, IMO. It's what you'd expect from a traditional Tori song. It's ethereal and evocative with some dark, brooding bass notes.
Overall I still think it's most similar to Oysters.
ETA: Someone (Noah? Peeping Tommi?) said we'd probably laugh at her pronunciation of Scandinavia so I'll admit I grinned at that.

I get the comparison to Oysters during the "get you back to you" parts, but the rest of the song is very different. In all, this is far superior to Oysters.
I haven't been this excited to hear a new Tori song since like....two weeks ago!
^^ It's high praise because it truly deserves it!
How long till the song is in playmusic?
Can't wait to hear it!
What is the safest TOR browser for Mac?
Literally had to hold back tears during the last two minutes. Brava!
Of course I am at work for the next 6.5 hours and cannot hear it
notherkind - glad you are enjoying. Can't believe you like it more than Oysters!I guess it is a longer, more meditative kind of track...?
Robbing the muse...
That was amazing.
(Tor Browser did work on my phone?)
I got some slight Apollo's Frock vibes from it in certain parts, but maybe a bit darker. It certainly is a bold (as someone mentioned) choice for an opener, especially for a pop album, and I love her even more for that. I mean, Amber Waves, Parasol, Yo George, Give, America... they're all quite "safe." This is a different beast.
The Jupiter part made me tear up.
I am SO excited for this album.
I've heard the song twice. And, wow. Reindeer King brought tears to my eyes. This song is stunningly beautiful. The piano is definitely the highlight, but not the only great thing about this song. The first time I read about strings, I couldn't imagine they would be like these ones, quite subtle but adding a lot of texture. I adore how Tori sounds here, and the double vocals don't bother me at all. The Antarctica bridge (?) made me choke up a little bit too, and the little build-up at the end of the song is incredible!
oh shit, all these comments are making me crazy![]()
I would describe it as "epic." Along the lines of Gold Dust (the song, not the album). Oysters is a much simpler track as it's just Tori and the piano. There's a lot going on in Reindeer King, and it all kind of swells and sweeps you away.
Mash up Apollo's Frock, Black Dove, Garlands, and Gold Dust and I think you get Reindeer King![]()
I'm getting a sort of Dark Garlands vibe. Cinematic, 13th century abbey, Venus-era Tori in black robes, possibly a black hood...
