For sure. I'm also impressed that it definitely sounds like she is stretching herself with this album.

Does anyone else get a 90s vibe from this? Not 90s Tori, but 90s urban pop or something?

It's at the 17:55-ish mark for those of you rewinding.

It's pretty, but I'm not blown away. I don't hate it! It reminds me of "Wild Way." That synth is straight-up Madonna's "I'll Remember," which is my favorite song by anyone ever, so there's that.

Listening again on headphones (thanks for the tip .chris!!!). I actually really like it. I love the production. But it sounds kinda dated in parts...? But then I love the synths during "is it too late"... I guess it is the chorus...

The bits I (involuntarily) caught of "Wings" sounded like 2011 Kate Bush collaborating with early 1990s William Orbit... at least through my computer speakers.

Oh boy, glad people can finally hear "Wings" and hopefully see what I'm talking about with the vocals. I'll say that it's grown on me since my first listen, and I don't actively dislike it by any means. In fact, there are melodic elements I love. It fits fine alongside everything else but I'd say it's not indicative of the rest of the album. Production-wise, it sounds fuller than how it may have sounded on AATS or UG.

And yes, @Joey! You heard the "I'll Remember" synth too.

It's not awful but I'm a bit surprised. There's some parts I really like and some things I don't know what to make of

If that's a lower tier song I am fine with this album. Like seriously. I was like "it's pretty!" - not blown away by it by any means but also would not run for the skip button.

I have listened like 5 times. lol. I like it better than Wild Way at least (near the bottom of UG for me).

Somehow, it seems, I have only been acquainted with the remix William Orbit made for this song which is why I drew the connection. Had no idea he didn't produce the album version. I don't intend to take another listen before the album is out, but my initial impression of "Wings" reminded me of this.

Totally agree. The more produced songs on NI are just more impressive on first listen than the UG ones so far.

The vocals are sure really high and it's new but it's not baby voice. I get major Venus vibes from it

I'd say her vocals here are "America"-level and not quite up there in "Oysters" territory.

I am really digging this. The funky synths are great. The vocals do not bother me.

I love the deep purring synth / bass stuff going on.

It kinda reminds me of Mylene Farmer. "Apelle Mon Numero" or something? lol
