    Broken Arrow

I'm making a song thread already because this one deserves it!!! The beginning part sounds like Ween. Not even kidding. They were probably going for Pink Floyd, but it has more charm when it sounds like a weird beatnik band in the basement with a self-made record. The drum programming is more than adequate here -- a drummer like Matt would've overpowered the song IMO.

And how about the Sheryl Crow similarities that I was NOT the only one to pick up on... it sounds like "Love is a Good Thing" meets "Oh Marie" meets "Redemption Day". That whole album is amazing btw and don't knock it til you tried it.

So far my favorite off Native Invader. Love it.

I've already listened to this song about 8 times since last night. OBSESSED. It has this dark, crunchy, swirling quality to it. I envision a hurricane forming or a town in the midwest slowly getting darker with a storm rolling in. Is she referring to a "Broken Arrow" nuclear incident here? Or Broken Arrow, Okahoma (Cherokees)? Or an actual broken arrow as a metaphor?

I like this song but I'm having a hard time getting past the porno guitar.

I am doing a bigger review atm, but have my copy/paste for Broken Arrow:

Broken Arrow: 90s En Vogue guitar there, woah. Going into country pop? Then back into En Vogue, then into a Scarlet's Walk song? Hello piano. Well, that was a ride!

I've heard other people say that every time they hear wah-wah guitar (that it sounds like porno) I don't make that association!! I also got pretty good on the wah pedal when I played guitar constantly.

    I hear the beginnings of:

And also from the chorus of:

    ...from Broken Arrow.

I associate that wah wah guitar with late 90s r&b, since that's what I was listening to the most in the 90s (I'm sorry <.<)

I get what she's going for here, but I'm afraid I'm not going to listen to it unless I'm listening to the album as a whole. It's not skippable, I just don't think it's going to single out as a favorite.

I think it's one of the very good ones on the record. I was prepared to hate it, but actually the porno guitar sounds more like a synth to me. I don't know. maybe it's a defence mechanism on my side. anyway, this song is cool in a Tombigbee kind of way.

I am surprised I love this one so much. The dark organ sound of the verses and her vocals there are great. The guitar is actually stellar here. And the bridge is really beautiful. I think this will be a grower for some that aren't in the mood for it yet...

I've only heard it once, but it had a lot of going on and was very big in sound. It will take me a while to digest it like a few of the other songs.

Yeah - it reminds me of my profession in the 70s as well. Good times...

Definitely one of my favourites. I had no idea there's something like "porno guitar" omg, it does sound similar (I promise to have checked it out safely on yt though )

Broken Arrow was the biggest shocker for me. In a good way. Unexpectable. And I constantly thought: reminds me of one of my forever&ever fav albums, Morcheeba's Big Calm.
