^ omg that’s so great @Kari! Have a blast. So jealous...I’d love to catch another show on this tour but I have limited vacation time at my new job for the first year. Otherwise I was seriously considering trying to go to the Oakland show with my bestie who lives in SF.

Undented just tweeted that this meet and greet has been cancelled due to the cold temperature.

I considered driving to Durham to visit a friend and see the show. There was a seat about 20 rows back on the floor but basically dead center. I should have just grabbed it and headed up there. *sigh* I'm still so bummed that this is another tour that's missing Florida. I didn't get to see her with the quartet either.

I feel like this will be a special show, and I hate that I'm missing it. I just didn't want to drive 6 hours there from Atlanta and then 8 hours from Durham to Nashville. Too much driving. Hope everyone enjoys the show, though!

Comments on Facebook seem to say that people showed up despite the M&G being cancelled, and she met with folks who were there.

Yeah. Happening or not? I’m looking at tomorrow’s weather for Nashville. Cleveland’s M&G was cancelled and I’ll be so disappointed if Nashville’s is. It’s also causing a little problem for me. It’d be much easier to get onto the road to make it for showtime, but I’m pulling 200 strings to leave so I can make the meet and greet. If I knew it was cancelled ahead of time, it’d simplify things by leaving later but would also be depressing af.
@Kari, so happy you’re seeing your 3rd show this week and meeting @jaypea! That’s awesome. I REALLY hope you get to meet Tori this time! Have an awesome time, guys!

To anyone who DOES meet her and feels the same way I do, ask her why she’s never done Simon and Garfunkel’s America? Haha. I still can’t believe she hasn’t done it. It’s so obvious. Maybe THAT’S why? But It would be SO beautiful and perfect for NI. Then again, she’s just extend the “America” mash-up probably and that would get an “Ugh” from me. Lol.

And no, I’m not really asking for people to spend their precious little time with Tori to do my bidding.

WTF re: the M&G. I wonder how that happened.

@Adam Undented claims Nashville’s M&G is cancelled but they also said today’s was so who knows:

Sounds like it happened earlier quickly, according to this guy’s Instagram post: https://instagram.com/p/BbXt784gZiA/

There was no M&G today in Durham. People were just lucky she stopped to speak to them when she arrived at the venue. If she has the time, she will always stop, sign stuff and take pictures, but that has absolutely nothing to do with an organised M&G. She's just being kind and generous with her time, giving away around six minutes from her tight schedule that day.

I really hope this doesn't backfire for the rest of the tour with many people gathering by the stage door regardless of whether or not a M&G is happening. There seems to be a Tori Does M&Gs Out of Pity Even When There Wasn't Going to Be One rhetoric (not around here, though!) and I hope this doesn't delude people into believing untruths. By the end of it, no-one might get to see her, so she's either just going to wave at everyone while going by or they will cleverly escort her into the venue. On the European tour, they were very strict about this. Once there was a huge amount of people waiting at noon when it had been confirmed that there wasn't going to be a M&G, they smuggled her in without anybody noticing. They were trying to be fair since there was no way she would be able to speak to 45 people in six minutes. Therefore it was decided she wasn't going to meet anybody at all. However, when there were only about five or seven people waiting, she did take her time...

What I mean to say: don't beat yourself up about this Durham situation. I really hope those of you who want to talk to her on this tour get to do that; there are several opportunities, but it's important to know what is appropriate and what isn't.

Thanks for clearing that up. I texted Kari after Ron reported something was happening because I wanted to make sure she and her friend got a fair shot, but that makes more sense. I was miffed thinking there was an unclear change of M&G status – that’s just confusing and difficult for everyone involved.

Yeah, I totally hear what you’re saying and agree about respecting Tori’s time. Unfortunately I’m not sure if a lot of people really know or care about the difference between an “official M&G” vs. her stopping to take pictures and say hi to people on her way in our out of the venue, which is when a lot of other artists do that sort of thing.

Sorry, @MikeEP, by the way... I didn't see your post above and didn't mean to rehash the things that were essentially said in the Instagram link. About those informal run-ins: it's kind of a tricky situation because there is nothing wrong with it on one hand and then there's an awful lot off about it on the other. It usually depends on the crowd. My impression is that, although she is as present and attentive as usual, she feels challenged to connect with someone she hasn't met before under this type of time pressure. She says she grounds and focuses herself before a M&G, so that is a different scenario altogether whereas hopping out of the car to greet a bunch of fans under often messy circumstances makes for a real challenge. Surely she has been around for decades and is well-trained in that regard, but she's still sensitive to and receptive of what is happening immediately around her. There are people waiting she knows obviously well enough to not go out of her way for, but then there are always first timers whom she intends to greet just as considerately. It's just very tricky. And everyone has to decide for themselves whether that's something they would like to participate in or not, for their own and Tori's sake.

I forgot to add something: only because a M&G has been confirmed to happen, that still doesn't (unfortunately) mean that plans may not fall through eventually. Her promotional commitments on this tour have been insane. Quite a few M&Gs in Europe were confirmed to be happening, but there were postponements instead.

For instance: Frankfurt was a go, everybody adjusted their travelling accordingly. However, in the evening before the Frankfurt show, it was announced a M&G was no longer happening and that the next one would be in Hamburg. Again, everybody adjusted their travelling schedules, only to find out (in my case on the train to Hamburg the day before) that there wasn't going to be a M&G in Hamburg either but the following day in Essen (which happened). The next show in Berlin had a tentative M&G announced but shortly before, word got around that there wasn't going to be a M&G in Berlin and Munich either. Reasons for all this vary, but it is mainly because she had so much press to do, it is unbelievable.

Statistically speaking, it's a bit odd to have one M&G spread across a total of five shows in one country. But that's all they could do. And they really really really tried. I know that the entirety of Germany is even smaller than the average state in America, so that comparison isn't fair in the end. But what I mean to say: it's so sad when people are travelling believing they are going to meet her, especially if it's their only show, but the M&Gs are more than ever subject to her media commitments which were intensified due to the short time to launch the album properly (with an extensive promo cycle preceding the release).

It seems, though, her team has decided to be more definitive about the M&Gs and only announces them when they are 100% happening. With every M&G that is announced to not be happening (I don't like the word "cancel" in this context), they are ruling out the dangerous potentials of maybe in an attempt to keep people from arriving unnecessarily early or causing travelling inconvenience.
