I wasn't initially blown away by Soccer Mommy but I've definitely come around. She has the dreamy tone of Lisa Germano with the profane, sardonic youth of Live Through This-era Hole.

"Your Dog" is a perfect song. Melody, hooks, lyrics, attitude: it's all there.
At my core, I think we're gonna be OK.

Nicole Dollanganger is set to release a new LP this summer called Heart Shaped Bed. She released the first half of the album on bandcamp. The new stuff is like Lana Del Rey amped up to a strong 11 as far as sadcore goes.

^Love it. She's like Lana Del Rey meets Marissa Nadler with just the slightest hint of Grouper.

...with all of them starring in a Harmony Korine movie.

I haven't seen anyone talk about ionnalee (iamamiwhoami)... is everyone sleeping on this? It's a grower, I think. It's darker than Blue, more like BOUNTY than anything else. So not exactly treading new ground, but damn if she hasn't honed her craft into something on the aesthetic level of the best Lana Del Rey, or Björk even. The synth-pop genre has only gotten more redundant and tedious as the years go on, so I can see why maybe this isn't on everyone's list. But I like the deconstructed feel of this album -- I hear faint echoes of Fever Ray (2009) in some of these songs, and I'm down for more of that.

I usually keep on top of new stuff coming out from my favorites, so I don't know how I totally missed that there's a new Wye Oak album out this week! Happy surprise!

Um, that sounds amazing!!! I will have to check her out.

Anyone else into Hatchie? She's jangly girl rock music, reminds me of Sheryl Crow with some of the sweeter melodies of Celebrity Skin-era Hole (think "Heaven Tonight" or "Boys on the Radio").

Gah, Nina Kinert is one of my absolute favorites, so I'm super excited for her upcoming new album Romantic. She's gone increasingly electronic the last few albums, so this one-take acoustic lead single is a big, beautiful swerve. Almost an Agnes Obel vibe?

Love this! Looks like she just released a new single last week, too.

Jenny Hval - Spells (Official Audio)

    And an AURORA song!

    AURORA - Queendom (Official Audio)
Maybe for once, someone will call me "Sir" without adding, "You're making a scene."

I guess the new A Perfect Circle album is out there, but reaction is not good. I don't hate the clips, though, so I might be an outlier. The album cover is awful though.
