    Awards Season 2017/2018

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes starting this so early, but we always get so excited for the movie awards we ignore the Emmys and they're pretty important too. I feel they start the whole season, even if they're a few months before the rest. They kind of set the tone until the Oscars are done. Set the clothing trends, the bar to which hosts will be measured. The kinds of jokes that don't go over well, the underdog stories that are going to succeed.

Emmy Nominations 2018: The Complete List Of Nominees

Nothing too shocking, but I'm a little surprised by all the ACS: Versace love. The non-acting awards seem to be (again) mostly white dudes, but in most of the acting categories, there are multiple actors of color nominated in every category, not just one per category. It's not enough, but it's refreshing that it's getting better.

    My favorite nominations are:

Outstanding lead actor in a comedy series
    Ted Danson (The Good Place)
    Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm)

I would love to see that become a Curb episode.

    My favorite unexpected nom is:

Outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie
Jesse Plemons (USS Callister: Black Mirror)

And probably winner that gives me the sads:

    Outstanding informational series or special
    Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (CNN)

I'm just now really going over the list and I'm extremely happy to see that some categories have up to 8 nominees.
This is smart. If you want to increase viewership to these awards shows which is dipping at horrible rates every year.. then including more people (stars)/and probably adding even more diversity seems like a smart way to go about it.

I have to say all the love that Versace got was something I was happy to see. I wanted that to happen but I didn't think it would.

I’m rooting for Yvonne Strahovski to win her category. She plays Serena Joy so well.

I'm so glad I made this thread.

I dreamt last night I was nominated for something, probably an Oscar. Best supporting actress. I got to hang out with Glenn Close.

I read that Sandra Oh was the first Asian woman to be a nominee in a best actress emmy category. Good for her, but jfc it's 2018. And I read that Modern Family was almost entirely shut out. Super weird because the Emmys really like to reward the same show/person year after year. The best part is when a show is over and the following year you can see who takes over. Otherwise it's like *yawn* Julia Louis Dreyfuss again.
