a little nervous about that title.
yes, she is a very smart, well-read lady. her songs are often political.
but she's never really thrown herself into the political activist world ... seems odd to suddenly be offering a "blueprint for change."

I adore the NI artwork too. Unfortunately there was some apparent bad blood between Paulina and Karen Binns, so I doubt Paulina will be involved in any further projects. This book sounds like it might have been a good match for her work and I would have loved to see her on future albums as well.

Paulina talks a little bit about it in this Instagram post. Just read her replies to fans:

Needless to say, Karen has likely ensured that she will remain sole creative director for Tori's artwork.

The difference in artwork between Native Invader and the albums before it is so obvious I can't believe Tori can't see it. She's obviously blinded by her friendship with Karen.

What happened with the fallout again? Did this designer say Karen stole her idea?

Ugh, Karen Binns needs to be tossed into the bin. Her "style" makes Edina Monsoon look like Audrey Hepburn by comparison.

And didn't she insist on having some sort of credit in the liner notes like "artistic director" or something like that?

Yah, Binns was credited as sole Creative Director in the liner notes. Paulina was just "photographer."

Apparently, it rubbed Paulina the wrong way because she came up with the ideas for the shots. Karen styled.

I know there's more on the story somewhere, but that above IG post is the only existing evidence I can find at the moment.

It's also really telling that Paulina makes a point to say the issue wasn't with Tori - and that Tori was warm, professional and great to work with - she completely nails it all on Karen. Such an unfortunate thing really because NI had her best album artwork since Scarlet. It was like Under the Pink in the Upside Down.

I don't think the 20 songs are necessarily her own songs, but could be other artists' songs. When this was announced I was thinking of American Pie.

^^^ I think the Upside Down in Stranger Things, at least that's how I took it.

Yeah, I assume it's her writing about other artists' influential songs.

What if it's a book to accompany another covers album of other artists' songs with political messages?
    That could be awesome.

I’m all for this idea but with only 20 songs... does that seem like a short book? Maybe she’ll devote 3 or 4 pages of each entry to her chef or the staff around her country house You guys know that no matter how hard you wish, it’s gonna be Piece By Piece II in some way.
