    Favorite Horror Films

Lately I've been on a real horror kick. I'm squeamish about gore, but I love a well done thriller. I was wondering what everyone's favorite scary flicks are!

    Some newbies that I enjoyed:

    1. Hereditary- it sufficiently spooked me, but I was disappointed by the ending.
    2. The Autopsy of Jane Doe- I LOVED this one! Watched it twice in a row.

    3. Bird Box - I enjoyed this thoroughly! And, while I hate to compare, the parallels have been drawn between this and A Quiet Place, and I can say that Bird Box wins by a landslide.

And my ultimate list (in no real order):

    1. It Follows
    2. Stir of Echoes
    3. Poltergeist
    4. Sixth Sense
    5. Hellraiser 1 and 2
    6. Silent Hill
    7. Seven
    8. Silence of the Lambs
    9. The Cell
    10. The Others
    11. The Relic
    12. The Ring
    13. Cabin Fever
    14. Cabin in the Woods
    15. Alien
    16. The Boy
    17. The Thing
    18. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    19. The Conjuring 1 and 2
    20. Evil Dead
    21. The Shining
    22. The Birds
    23. Rear Window
    24. Ghost Story (1981)

Tell me more! I'd love to find some new favorites.

I really need a lot of time to think about this lol!
Nice to see Silent Hill on your list, I like that one a lot too - but it got such harsh critiques.

Silent Hill is a great film! You definitely have to be able to appreciate how video-game-cheese the dialogue is, but it continues to creep me out no matter how many times I watch it. And the ending is so satisfying (regarding the Brethren, at least).

What is so good about it, it captures the atmosphere of survival horror at some moments, I know of no other films that even attempt it. And I love Laurie Holden.

My favorite horror movie EVER is REC, but the original one, the Spanish one. I went to the cinema and saw it three times, and it scared the shit out me every time (specially the scene where the fireman falls from the stair, I don't know why I fall for it every. single. time).
Silent Hill is really, really good too; the second part... not so much.
The same thing about The Blair Witch Project: the first one is awesome (that ending!); the second one sucks.

God I love REC. I had to watch Ghostbusters as a pallet-cleanser and I was still up till dawn because I couldn't sleep with that last scene in my head.

In no real order and leaving out a lot:

    Trance (aka The Fan)

    The Blair Witch Project

    Messiah of Evil

    The Innocents

    The Shout

    Cure

    Possession (1981)

    The People Under the Stairs

(Also hi, I miss this place. ♥)
