    Smile OMG I quit smoking

A new thread is as good an excuse as any to check in with everyone. How is everyone doing?

Almost 3.5 years for me, with some slip-ups now and then, but nothing permanent.

I am close behind you. 3 years, 3 months. And I don't really understand why I haven't managed to slip yet.

2 years 4 months. I'm living with a smoker now and mostly surprised as to how little it has bothered me (although there have been moments).

I do think this thread in its previous incarnation is/was a wonderful resource and support for a lot of people quitting/thinking of quitting. Go Team Us!

    Six months? Something like that.

I went to a wedding this weekend. Someone who quit 14 years ago decided to go out and smoke with the rest of the group. She sounded horrible on Monday - no voice. I missed the socialization when everyone went outside (and never came back, that's how it always goes, isn't it?) but I didn't want to go out by them because it really smelled bad out there. I have no desire to do it, even socially.

I bought my first carton of cigarettes before I went to Orlando for vacation a couple of weeks ago. I'm almost down to the last pack. After I smoke it, I plan on quitting smoking for good. I'm almost 33 years old, and it's time to make the step to quit for good (no cigarette here and there when I drink, but for good). My close friend is on day 4 of no smoking. He hasn't came upon a weekend where he usually drinks, so that will be test #1. I'm looking forward to quitting, but I will miss the social aspects of it.

I keep boomeranging! I tried Chantix and quit for a long time. I only smoke about 5-6 cigs a day now, but I'm so ready to be done with it. I heard that St. John's Wort can help with quitting smoking, so I started using that today. I'll let everyone know if it helps. Congratulations to all who have been able to kick the habit!
