Not neccessarily 'singles compilation' - just the best stuff according to you. A nice, thought-out flow also will be appreciated. Anyone?
    Let's see:

    01. In the Springtime of His Voodoo (Rookery Ending) - just as an intro
    02. Caught a Lite Sneeze
    03. Precious Things
    04. Honey
    05. Blood Roses
    06. Happy Phantom
    07. Upside Down
    08. Doughnut Song
    09. Past the Mission
    10. Cloud On My Tongue
    11. Space Dog
    12. Tear In Your Hand
    13. Mother

^ Yes - I think you win. But I would maybe get rid of Cornflake Girl and cheat and add Spark... LOL. This first 3 album thing is limiting for no reason. Girl branched out with FTCH!!! And we will forever be grateful...

A little background - I am not a Tori fan, and I am only familiar with some of her 90s work through my ex (that's why I asked for your help). I wanted to make a playlist/mix-CD for a friend of mine who happens to be going through a tough time. She's not a huge music buff at all but recently she stumbled upon Night of Hunters (out of all Amos records!) and has been enjoying bits of it. I was surprised to hear it on the speakers in her house, and even more surprised to find out that she had no idea who Tori Amos was and had no knowledge of her earlier output. So I showed her "Silent All These Years" and "Cornflake Girl" on YouTube - she immediately fell in love with them - and promised to make a compilation of her early stuff.

I wanted to stick to the first three albums because they've just been remastered and therefore A) are easy to get, B) the sound quality is great, and because it was before Tori moved to electronic-infused rock band territory. Even Pele with its broader sonic palette still puts the voice and the keyboards to the front. I wanted the mix to be cohesive that way. I'm also not a fan of the brickwalled mixing and production on her late-90s record (I know, a controversial statement), and I'm definitely not into the Adult Contemporary MOR aesthetic she moved into in the 00s. Just personal preferences.

^ yours is almost the same as mine except for 3 songs. But I agree about Tear In Your Hand, I always liked that she included that on Tales. I would swap it with Crucify, which a lot of people seem to find dated (not me though, I love it) ETA: and the single mix is a definite no.

I think UG needs heavy editing, but it's almost impossible for me to get a perfect order for the songs that made the cut, since the styles are so different and at the same time this album has so many piano tracks.
It's more or less something like this:

    Vicar's Wife
    Trouble's Lament
    Selkie
    Unrepentant Geraldines
    Weatherman
    16 Shades of Blue
    Dixie
    Wedding Day
    Forest of Glass
    Wild Way
    Rose Dover
    Oysters
    America
    Invisible Boy

I think the beginning and ending part work especially well here. Sometimes I'm not really into Rose Dover and Wild Way, so may have to cut those two, too.

I've edited TBK, ADP, and AATS, but I just make a new edit if I want to listen to one of them; I don't keep a certain track list forever, so songs come and go depending on my moods. And I usually take Promise and GRP (and sometimes 16 Shades) off UG.

I do sometimes like making "Extended Cuts" of the first four, especially UTP and Choirgirl (it's near impossible to reorganize Pele for sonic and thematic reasons--that album is too perfect--and LE just has so many good bees that it becomes unwieldy). I haven't done it in a while, but it's more fun, I think, to rearrange really great albums than to mostly just edit mediocre ones.

My iPod "Alt Choirgirl" playlist goes

    Spark
    Purple People
    Liquid Diamonds
    Iieee
    Hotel
    Playboy Mommy
    Bachelorette
    Raspberry Swirl
    Black Dove
    She's Your Cocaine
    Cruel
    Never Seen Blue
    Jackie's Strength
    Northern Lad
    Cooling
    Beulah Land
    Pandora

And with UTP, I usually just add Honey after Past the Mission. But I keep Wrong Band. Sometimes Daisy Dead Petals goes after Icicle, and Sister Janet goes after COMT.

But, in general, I like to listen to each album as Tori intended it, at least up to Scarlet.
