    I just happened to hear about this #walkaway stuff and I don't know if it's trolling or astroturfing or russian meddling. Should we be concerned? I mean, I get that the DNC is not perfect. Until recently, I was registered independent even though I voted D 90% of the time (some lefty non-Ds like Bernie got my vote in most of that 10%). But like... the dems aren't good but can be changed from within the party. The GOP is committing human rights abuses and destroying everything the US has stood for in the past century. It must be stopped.

    Are these people just bitter Bernie Bros? Not really Dems? I don't know what to make of it.

    Since our #2016Election loss, we have flopped in every direction to find an excuse for our failure.

    Blame the 63M deplorable Trump voters.

    Blame the #ElectoralCollege.

    Blame Comey.

    Blame the Russians.

    No. Stop it. Blame Clinton, the DNC, & her primary voters. They suck.

    About those #Russians.

    We have assured ourselves that Trump is a Russian traitor. We’ve held up the #SteeleDossier as proof.

    Nevermind that CIA Director Brennan gave it “no particular credence.”

    Rather than let Mueller find the facts, we’ve already executed POTUS for treason.

    Meanwhile, we’ve defended the #FBI, calling them unquestionable defenders of freedom.

    Nevermind that Hellen Keller could see that the senior ranks — Comey, Strzok, etc — deserved scrutiny & punishment.

    Indeed, the #IGReport laid out a damning case in painful detail.

    Oops.

    Socially, we’ve also fanned the flames of discord.

    After #Charlottesville, we were more concerned about tearing down Confederate statues than holding #Antifa’s feet to the fire.

    And those statues? America wanted new ones next to the old. Add to history, not destroy it.

    But no.

    And then there was #BLM.

    Less than 1,000 people die annually at the hands of a cop. Out of 325 million people.

    And most of the dead are white.

    Studies do show people of color suffer harassment by cops at higher levels than whites. But not deaths.

    Where was that nuance?

    Now let’s talk #Islam.

    Democrats scream that “We’re All Muslim” while wearing scarfs that actual Muslim women dream of taking off w/o being jailed.

    And what about Salafi Muslims who hate gays, science, & democracy? Are Democrats those Muslims too?

    Zero reason in this debate.

    Which leads to #immigration.

    We’re embracing #AbolishICE knowing full well the history of the Abolish movement is to create #OpenBorders.

    Nevermind that polls overwhelmingly show Americans want illegals deported, humanely, and our border strengthened.

    But Dem elites don’t care

    Now we’re embracing #Socialism w/ no concern for its dark history or how we’d pay for all of those “free” programs.

    Normally the media would hold these folks accountable. But no. They’re too busy calling Socialists “badass” and “super impressive.”

    How objective!

    None of this means Trump or Republicans are the answer. Some of the garbage that’s coming out of their mouths is equally wrong.

    But unless Democrats present a credible alternative, our arguments won’t matter. Rightfully so.

    We will have whined & cried wolf one too many times.

    I’m done w/ #Progressives. I’m done w/ the #RESISTANCE.

    I’m done with the Nazi talk, the bashing of Trump voters.

    I’m done with the refusal to own our mistakes.

    And yes, I’m done with folks like @michaelianblack, who sit in mansions & complain of fatigue.

    They can pound sand.
    I can tell you right now I'm not done with calling out nazis and dunking on idiot trump voters will never stop. Please put it on my headstone should I get traditionally buried. I want ICE abolished, but that doesn't mean open borders. This idiot seems to be jumping to strange conclusions based on the fringiest lefties.

    The comments are all like "right on, dude!" and the hashtag on twitter is bizarre. It feels fake, but the stupidity of people is not something I want to underestimate again.

    @Bostonfortrump1

    Want to see how TOLERANT a Liberal is?

    Disagree with one...

    #WalkAway

    @SCarpeto

    When your political party says you need a government that sets policy based on listening to children. It’s time to #WalkAway

    @4NDR3VVEM3RY

    The Left no longer represents classical liberalism (if ever it did in the first place). When you #WalkAway, you aren't giving up being a liberal, you're punishing the Left for giving up on you.

    @aforever_us

    Liberals do not like black folks and just expect failure, if they weren’t racist they would be marching here in Chicago for our dying youth #WalkAway

    @STEVEN_JOSEPH_

    My #WalkAway moment came only after I realized that, if they'll lie about something as fundamental and obvious as the profound natural differences between men & women, they will lie about anything.

    The left's only principal is power.

    @SpeedyDubs

    #WalkAway is gaining traction and not a single whiff of coverage from left-wing media. I suppose they're trying to keep it under the rug

    @bizcochico

    I’m a #gay #Jew, but some of my favorite people are straight white #Christian men. The #AltLeft says these people are my enemy, so I #WalkAway. I can pick my own friends, thank you. #WalkAwayMovement

    @iKnowWisdom

    Replying to @SenKamalaHarris
    Why are you telling lies? Nowhere did Trump say he wants Roe V Wade overturned!?

    Why do you continue to fear monger? THIS is why I #WalkAway
    So many people in the hashtag have pepe frogs and maga handles and avatars. I think it's fake, but I don't know how much traction it's getting.

    Yeah, that is clearly a botnet pushing a hashtag they created to get it trending. They did it all throughout the 2016 election.

    Oh good. We're going to have enough trouble with suppression and gerrymandering and citizens united. Plus a bunch of asshole party members who are not enough on board with things to help.

    Rhode Island Dems in uproar as party seeks to oust three progressive women
    At the same time, the party is standing by a lawmaker who has been charged with sexual assault and perjury. It also backed a former lawmaker who has been arrested several times.

    As it tries to fend off a progressive insurgency, the Democratic Party in one of the bluest states in the country is facing open revolt after endorsing candidates — including a Trump-voting former Republican — in primaries against three progressive women up for re-election this year.

    Progressives across the country say they're fighting an out-of-touch party establishment, but nowhere are the battle lines more clearly drawn than Rhode Island, where the state is run largely by Democrats who oppose abortion rights and get "A" ratings from the National Rifle Association.

    The long-simmering fight burst into the open this week after the Rhode Island Democratic Party released its slate of endorsements, which critics say is aimed at punishing three women who ousted old-guard incumbents two years ago.

    Meanwhile, the party stood by a lawmaker who has previously been indicted on charges of sexual assault and is accused of domestic abuse, and who is currently under indictment on perjury charges. It also backed a former lawmaker with multiple arrests on his record, including one in 1994 vehicular homicide, over the vice chair of the Rhode Island Democratic Party Women's Caucus.

    ...

    State Rep. Marcia Ranglin-Vassell is one of just eight African-Americans in the state legislature and, according to her tally, seven of them are now facing challenges in the Sept. 12 primary.

    The liberal high school teacher ousted a 24-year incumbent who served as House majority leader in 2016. Now, the state party has endorsed a professor at a Catholic university who signed a letter supporting Ireland's abortion ban, which was recently overturned.

    ...

    Freshman Rep. Moira Jayne Walsh, 27, who has been outspoken about what she sees as a culture of corruption in the State House, lost her party's endorsement to Michael Earnheart, who voted for President Donald Trump.
    Rhode Island might be almost as corrupt as Chicago. Per capita and for its size, it's probably proportionally worse.

    I don't think every district has to have the leftiest lefty possible, but centrists can suck it if they're not going to get behind the lefties when we lefties had to get behind the centrists for decades.

    wtf, california? I mean, I get it if you're done with diane but this is kind of bullshit.

    In rebuke of Dianne Feinstein, Kevin de León wins endorsement of California Democrats in Senate race

    California Democratic Party leaders took a step to the left Saturday night, endorsing liberal state lawmaker Kevin de León for Senate in a stinging rebuke of Democratic icon Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

    ...

    It’s not clear that the endorsement will have a significant effect on the general election. Feinstein crushed De León in the June primary, winning every county and finishing in first place with 44% of the overall vote. De León finished far behind with 12%, which was enough for a second-place finish and a ticket to the November election under the state’s top-two primary system.
    I mean, wouldn't a better way to spend your money be to push D candidates in House races rather than throwing it away on a senate seat that's going to go D anyway? She might not be the best Dem, but can we collectively get our shit together and not do stupid shit like this? She won the primary. Let it go.

    I guess the deleon guy is a bernie type. Imagine that. A super lefty dude unable to accept when a more moderate female wins. I mean, for all I know this guy is 1000 times better than feinstein, but the inability to accept anyone not as far left as you is the US left equivalent of trump supporters.

    Dems in fighting. Isn't that part of the 2016 problem? How is it Republicans can have a unified front and streamlined message, but not Dems?
    And the ghosts that we knew will flicker from view
    And we'll live a long life

    I'm still trying to grasp Cali's election system, which is different for different offices. I think? Feinstein and De Leon face no opposition from Republicans for the seat. I agree that it's ridiculous for the Dems to be spending money to campaign money against themselves and I would have preferred that they not endorse any candidate. That doesn't mean that I think that Feinstein should just run unopposed though, that just seems unhealthy. I want to hear what De Leon has to say.

    An excellent point but I feel it's too late now given they had the primary already. I mean, I think the whole CA system is whack and I can understand maybe people are Done with Diane, but it's fucking crab bucket central in the Dem party.

    Google never ceases to amaze, I didn't know what you were saying until -
    Crab mentality or crabs in a bucket (also barrel, basket or pot), is a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither can you". The metaphor refers to a bucket of live crabs, some of which could easily escape, but other crabs pull them back down to prevent any from getting out, ensuring the group's collective demise.
    The analogy in human behavior is claimed to be that members of a group will attempt to reduce the self-confidence of any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of envy, spite, conspiracy, or competitive feelings, to halt their progress.
    I'll vote for whoever I think is most effective, and at this point that is DiFi. She's a bit too moderate for me, and it cracks me up that right wingers think that she's a radical. So I would like get De Leon's ideas into the mix, but I don't think there's much doubt that Feinstein has this. Her war chest is huge. What will be telling is after the election, if DeLeon supporters can't get behind their elected representative then that is a problem. And there will be a few that won't.

    With all due respect, the main issue with Dianne Feinstein is that she is fucking old as all fuck! Most people her age are, you know, dead. It would make sense that once you've reached 80 (let alone 85), you don't run for another six-year term. I don't mind moderates, I am a moderate on certain issue as well (and I wouldn't dream of calling myself a socialist of any kind, even though I am a social democrat). I certainly don't prefer Sanderistas by any means. Still, new blood is definitely necessary. It's hard to energize millennial voters with a geriatric caucus.
