Everything But The Girl / Tracey Thorn

You can get Tracey Thorn's Love and Its Opposite album for $3.99 on Amazon.com today only (MP3 version.)

"Oh the Divorces" is one of my favourite songs of the year.

    Smile

last week I was on a huge Tracey Thorn kick, being totally addicted to Swimming. The Opposites ep has a nice remix of that track

in October, Tracey has a new one coming out called Tinsel And Lights - she covers songs on that one from Dolly Parton, The White Stripes, Joni Mitchell and others

I saw on Amazon that this will be a holiday album, but it sounds like an interesting one, and I love her voice so much. Definitely will be picking up this one.
    Suck it, Shawn.

Stellar tracklist!! Tracey's voice is always such a pleasure to hear. I'm glad she's more active these days than she was in the past decade. Her last 2 solo albums were wonderful. I'm still hoping her and Ben decide to do another EBTG album. Their swansong before the long hiatus, Temperamental, is such a good album. As for the new album, it sounds like another fine addition to a fine career catalog.
I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.

I loved Temperamental as well. Wasn't so crazy about her last solo effort though.

I love the reissues for their first four albums. I would love to see Walking Wounded and Temperamental come out in the same way. Both albums had 9 tracks, wonder if they recorded some more tracks (Temperamental had Firewall as a b-side, but I'd love to hear some demo's too)

I am late to the dance, but I just heard Love and Its Opposite for the first time today and immediately loved it. What a stellar album.

I need to dig into her catalog more.

just gave the album a first listen. First impressions are that I love In The Cold Cold Night and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - the hestitation in that last one make it sound so vulnerable. River is also beautiful, just like Sister Winter but I already knew that one

I've just read Tracey Thorn her book, Bedsit Disco Queen. It's really nice, a great read - and it adds character and insight to each album from Everything But The Girl, some positive, some negative. It sheds a whole new light on Temperamental, an album that I adore

Thanks seso for the info! Didn't know she wrote a book. I've loved her and EBTG since high school. Gotta get that book!
