    I Write Like

Don't know if anyone of you know this one, but I just stumbled upon a site that tells you which famous writer you write like based on your written text. I know, stupid, but fun.

Apparently, I write like Cory Doctorow. I have no idea who that is. I fear it's not a compliment.

    www.iwl.me it seems.

I pasted in a few paragraphs of an essay and got H.P. Lovecraft. Then I stuck in some fiction and got Dan Brown. And then I wanted to die.

I got Dan Brown my first time, and then J.R.R. Tolkein the second time. I figure something is seriously random with that thing. It's "fun" to think I write like anyone making [or having made] money with their writing, but ultimately that thing's busted.

Well, to be fair, I think the average third-grader can write better than Dan Brown.

One would hope. If I recall correctly, the writing sample I submitted to that result was a bit ranty and full of literary allusions. Go figure.

I tried all sorts of things. It gave me Dan Brown twice (both for fiction fml), James Joyce and Stephen King (fml again) for poetry and Edgar Allan Poe for an essay. I seriously hope that I don't write like Dan Brown or Stephen King, that would just be awful beyond awful.

I put in some song lyrics and got Cory Doctorow and James Joyce.

I don't write fiction, nor essays, so I guess this is not really for me. It is fun though.
